A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ANAHEIM AUTHORIZING AN APPLICATION FOR AN
URBAN STREAMS RESTORATION GRANT
WHEREAS, the California Department of Water Resources,
Division of Local Assistance, Urban Stream Restoration Program,
has announced the availability of funds for grants; and
WHEREAS, said grants are intended to help solve
flooding and erosion problems in a way that provided
environmental enhancement; and
WHEREAS, the Oak Canyon Committee of the Sea and Sage
Chapter of the National Audubon Society has proposed to cosponsor
a grant application with the City of Anaheim; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Anaheim has
concluded that the Walnut Canyon Creek Invert Stabilization
project proposed for funding with the grant funds would be
environmentally beneficial and categorically exempt from any
requirements for environmental documentation under the following
exemption, to wit: Section 15304(d), Class 4; and
WHEREAS, the prospect of receiving such a grant is
considered reasonably likely.
NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved that:
1. The City of Anaheim does approve the joint application
with Oak Canyon Committee of the Sea and Sage Chapter of the
National Audubon Society for an Urban Streams Restoration Program
grant for the Walnut Canyon Creek Invert Stabilization Project.
2. The City Manager is authorized to accept said grant, if
awarded, and to execute the contract for the administration of
the grant proceeds.
3. The Director of the Parks, Recreation and Community
Services Department is authorized and directed to develop a work
plan for the project and to submit invoices to the Department of
Water Resources for activities carried out under the work plan.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and adopted by the
City Council of the City of Anaheim this 15th day of January ,
1991.
