2616AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM
AMENDING TITLE 18, CHAPTER 18.62, SECTION
18.62.130 OF THE ANAHEIM MUNICIPAL CODE.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM,DOES ORDAIN
AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1.
That Title 18, Chapter 18.62, Section 18.62.130 of the
Anaheim Municipal Code be, and the same is hereby amended by adding
thereto Paragraph "D," reading as follows:
"SECTION 18.62.130 TEMPORARY DISPLAY OF FLAGS AND BANNERS
FOR ADVERTISING PURPOSES AND WINDOW SIGNS.
"D. Nothing herein contained shall be deemed to prohibit
the traditional Christmas decorations in residential and
commercial zones so long as they meet existing fire codes
in the City, for the period from December 1st to January
1st, inclusive."
SECTION 2.
This ordinance is hereby declared to be an urgency
measure and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon
its adoption. The facts constituting such urgency are as follows:
The City Attorney's Office has determined that Section
18.62.130 of the Anaheim Municipal Code, "Signs and Banners,"
would not permit the traditional Christmas decorations on
commercial and residential properties, and at this late date,
December 3, 1968, normal methods of amendment of an ordinance
are not possible. The alteration of this ordinance is necessary
to allow the citizens the opportunity to conduct the traditional
Christmas Holidays.
The adoption of this ordinance as an urgency measure
is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace,
health, safety and public welfare.
SECTION 3.
The City Clerk shall certify to the passage of this
ordinance and shall cause the same to be published once within
fifteen (15) days after its adoption in the Anaheim Bulletin,
a newspaper of general circulation, printed, published and
circulated in said City, and immediately upon and after its
passage it shall take effect and be in full force.
THE FOREGOING ORDINANCE is approved and signed by
me this 3rd day of December, 1968.
