3043ORDINANCE NO. 3043
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM AMENDING
TITLE 4, CHAPTER 4.40 OF THE ANAHEIM MUNICIPAL
CODE BY AMENDING SECTION 4.40.030 AND ADDING
THERETO SECTION 4.40.050.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM DOES ORDAIN AS
FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1.
That Title 4, Chapter 4.40 of the Anaheim Municipal Code
be, and the same is hereby amended by amending Section 4.40.030
thereof to read as follows:
"SECTION 4.40.03.0 FORTUNE TELLING, SPIRITUALISM,
MAGIC -TEACHING FOR CONSIDERATION
PROHIBITED.
"No person shall teach or give instruction in astrology,
palmistry, phrenology, life -reading, fortune telling,
cartomancy, clairvoyance, clairaudience, crystal gazing,
mediumship, spirit photography, spirit writing, spirit
voices, materialization, etherealization, prophecy, augury,
divination, magic, necromancy, or other similar business
or art and demand, ask or receive, directly or indirectly,
a gift, fee, donation or reward for such teaching or
instruction."
SECTION 2.
That Title 4, Chapter 4.40 of the Anaheim Municipal Code
be, and the same is hereby amended by adding thereto Section
4.40.050 reading as follows:
"SECTION 4.40.050 EXEMPTION - MEMBERS OF PROFESSIONAL
GROUPS.
"Nothing in this chapter shall be construed to prohibit
qualified members of recognized professional groups from
utilizing hypnotic techniques as provided by California
Business and Professions Code, Section 2908."
SECTION 3.
The City Clerk shall certify to the passage of this
Ordinance and shall cause the same to be printed once within
fifteen (15) days after its adoption, in the Anaheim Bulletin,
a newspaper of general circulation, printed, published and circu-
lated in said City, and thirty (30) days from and after its final
passage it shall take effect and be in full force.
THE FOREGOING ORDINANCE is approved and signed by me
this 16th day of May , 1972.
