AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM AMENDING
TITLE 14, CHAPTER 14.40, SECTION 14.40.065
OF THE ANAHEIM MUNICIPAL CODE, RELATING TO
SPEED LIMITS.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM DOES ORDAIN
AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1.
The City Council hereby declares that this Ordinance
is necessary as an emergency measure for the immediate preserva-
tion of the public peace, health and safety. The reasons for
the urgency of this ordinance are as follows: Lakeview Avenue
has recently been opened across the Riverside Freeway to Santa
Ana Canyon Road. Children living near the intersection of
Lakeview and Riverdale must go south over Lakeview to Santa Ana
Canyon Road in order to get to school. Lakeview Avenue at the
above mentioned location is not posted; therefore, the speed
limit is sixty-five miles per hour. In order to enable drivers
to keep their vehicles under control and avoid collisions with
pedestrians crossing Lakeview Avenue or the Riverside Freeway
on-ramp, it is necessary to reduce the speed from sixty-five miles
per hour to forty miles per hour and that this ordinance be made
effective prior to the end of the school year.
SECTION 2.
That Title 14, Chapter 14.40, Section 14.40.065 of the
Anaheim Municipal Code be, and the same is hereby amended by add-
ing thereto Paragraph 18, to read as follows:
"SECTION 14.40.065 FORTY MILES PER HOUR -- STREETS
1118. LAKEVIEW AVENUE, from the North City Limits to
Santa Ana Canyon Road."
SECTION 3.
The City Clerk shall certify to the passage of this
ordinance and shall cause the same to be published once within
fifteen (15) days after its adoption in the Anaheim Bulletin,
a newspaper of general circulation printed, published and
circulated in said City, and immediately upon and after its
passage it shall take effect and be in full force.
THE FOREGOING ORDINANCE is approved and signed by me
this 18th day of May, 1971.

meeting held on the 18th day of May, 1971, by the following vote of the
members thereof:

NOES: COUNCILMEN: None
ABSENT: COUNCILMEN: None
AND I FURTHER CERTIFY that the Mayor of the City of Anaheim
approved and signed said Ordinance No. 2928 on the 18th day of May,
1971.
