A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF ANAHEIM ESTABLISHING A
RENTAL PROGRAM FOR BEST-SELLING
BOOKS AND BOOKS RECORDED ON
AUDIOTAPE, AND SETTING RENTAL
AMOUNTS.
WHEREAS, budgetary constraints are adversely affecting
the ability of the Anaheim Public Libraries to supply sufficient
best-selling books and books recorded on audiotape to meet the
demand for such materials; and
WHEREAS, a rental program for duplicates of such
materials would provide funds to purchase and replenish them for
the benefit of library patrons; and
WHEREAS, the fees provided for herein have been
considered at a duly-noticed public hearing; and
WHEREAS, the amount of the fees do not exceed the cost
of providing the service;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the city of Anaheim that there is hereby established a rental
program, to be implemented by the Library Director, for
duplicates of best-selling books and unabridged books recorded on
audiotape, owned by the Anaheim Public Libraries.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that rentals shall be charged
only for duplicates of those best-selling books and those
unabridged books recorded on audiotape of which there is a free
copy in the collection, so that patrons who are willing to wait
in the reserve queue may borrow the free copy without charge.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the rental for duplicate
copies of books in the "best-seller" collection shall be one
dollar and fifty cents ($1.50) per week and for duplicate
recordings of unabridged books recorded on audiotape three
dollars ($3.00) per week.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and adopted by the
City Council of the City of Anaheim this 22nd day of 3une ,
1993.
