94-083 RESOLUTION NO. 94R- 83
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ANAHEIM OPPOSING ANNEXATION OR SERVICING
OF THE BALL-GILBERT COUNTY ISLAND IN
CONNECTION WITH THE PROPOSED DISSOLUTION OF
THE GARDEN GROVE SANITARY DISTRICT AND
DETACHMENT FROM MIDWAY CITY SANITATION
DISTRICT
WHEREAS, the city of Garden Grove has applied to the
Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCO) to consider a proposed
Dissolution of the Garden Grove Sanitary District (GGSD) and
Detachment from the Midway City Sanitation District (MCSD); and
WHEREAS, the Garden Grove Sanitary District provides
trash collection and sanitary sewer services to the Ball-Gilbert
County Island in West Anaheim, and that unincorporated territory
is within the Anaheim sphere-of-influence; and
WHEREAS, the above-mentioned unincorporated territory
encompasses approximately 423 acres and includes about 1,569
single-family homes, 202 multiple family units and 1.13 acres of
commercial uses; and
WHEREAS, the City of Anaheim has not undertaken to
annex or serve the Ball-Gilbert County Island because of past
property owner opposition to annexation and the substantial
capital improvements needed to bring the area up to city of
Anaheim standards;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Anaheim
is opposed to either annexation or the provision of service to
the Ball-Gilbert County Island in connection with the Dissolution
of the Garden Grove Sanitary District and the Detachment from the
Midway City Sanitation District.
