A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ANAHEIM APPROVING APPLICATION FOR FUNDS
FOR THE URBAN FORESTRY GRANT PROGRAM UNDER THE
CALIFORNIA WILDLIFE, COASTAL, AND PARK LAND
CONSERVATION BOND ACT OF 1988, FOR THE ANAHEIM
STREET TREE PLANTING PROJECT
WHEREAS, the people of the State of California have
enacted the California Wildlife, Coastal and Park Land
Conservation Act of 1988, which provides funds to the State of
California and its political subdivisions for urban forestry
programs; and
WHEREAS, the State Department of Forestry and Fire
Protection has been delegated the responsibility for the
administration of the program within the State, setting up
necessary procedures governing application by local agencies and
non-profit organizations under the program; and
WHEREAS, said procedures established by the State
Department of Forestry and Fire Protection require the applicant
to certify by resolution the approval of application before
submission of said application to the State; and
WHEREAS, the City of Anaheim intends to enter an
agreement with the State of California whereby the City of
Anaheim will carry out a tree planting program; and
WHEREAS, funds are available whereby the city will be
reimbursed for the cost of the trees to be planted, but not
including the cost of planting;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
THAT:
1. Filing of an application for grant funds from the Urban
Forestry Program under the California Wildlife, Coastal,
and Park Land Conservation Bond Act of 1988, is hereby
approved.
2. The city of Anaheim intends to appropriate sufficient
funds to operate and maintain the Anaheim Street Tree
Planting Program.
3. The City of Anaheim certifies that the City of Anaheim
will expend the grant funds prior to April 30, 1996.
4. The city Manager is hereby appointed as the agent for the
city of Anaheim to conduct negotiations and submit all
documents necessary to enable the city of Anaheim to
secure the grant.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and adopted by the
city Council of the City of Anaheim this 10thday of May ,
1994.
