A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF ANAHEIM APPROVING THE
SUBMITTAL OF A PROPOSAL TO THE
CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND
HUMAN SERVICES FOR FUNDING A GANG
PREVENTION PROGRAM
WHEREAS, State funding is available for the development
of youth gang and drug prevention programs through the Family and
Youth Services Bureau (FYSB) of the Administration on Children,
Youth and Families (ACYF) for fiscal year FY 1994-95; and
WHEREAS, the California Department of Health and Human
Services may approve up to $100,000 to fund community planning
grants for the purpose of helping community and neighborhood
groups organize into formal coalitions responsible for developing
action plans that concentrate gang and drug prevention resources
on socially and economically isolated neighborhoods; and
WHEREAS, the City of Anaheim desires to assist
neighborhood groups in preventing young people from becoming
involved in drug use and criminal gang activity, as described in
the City's Gang/Drug Task Force report;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the city Council of
the City of Anaheim as follows:
1. That the submittal of a proposal to the California
Department of Health and Human Services for funding for a youth
gang and drug prevention program is hereby approved; and
2. That the Community Services Superintendent,
Gang/Drug Program is hereby appointed agent of the City of
Anaheim to conduct all negotiations and to execute and submit all
documents including, but not limited to, applications,
agreements, amendments, payment requests, etc. , which may be
necessary for the completion of the aforementioned project.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and adopted by the
City Council of the City of Anaheim this 28th day of June ,
1994.
