A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF ANAHEIM AUTHORIZING THE
CHIEF OF POLICE TO PURCHASE NEW
POLICE DEPARTMENT BADGES AND
PROVIDE FOR THE DISPOSITION OF
BADGES IN CURRENT USE
WHEREAS, the Police Department issues badges to certain
of its personnel which those personnel are required to wear or
are authorized to carry; and
WHEREAS, the Police Department wishes to change its
police department badges from the current eagle design to a new
oval design badge; and
WHEREAS, the Police Department desires to permit its
current personnel who are required or authorized to wear or carry
a police department badge the option of continuing to wear or
carry their current eagle design badge instead of the new oval
design badge; and
WHEREAS, the Police Department desires to provide the
opportunity for authorized personnel to purchase their currently
issued eagle design badge at the current replacement cost of a
new badge; and
WHEREAS, City of Anaheim Administrative Regulation
Number 4.52 sets forth the procedure for the disposition of city-
owned surplus or obsolete equipment and scrap metal.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of
the City of Anaheim as follows:
1. That the Chief of Police is authorized to adopt and
purchase in requisite numbers a newly designed oval police
department badge.
2. That City of Anaheim Administrative Regulation Number
4.52 be waived regarding the disposition of the current design
eagle badges.
3. That the Chief of Police is directed to promulgate and
institute a policy and procedure in connection with the
disposition of the current eagle design badges.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and adopted by the
city Council of the City of Anaheim this 8th day of November ,
1994.
