A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNC1L OF THE
CITY OF ANAHEIM APPROVING A LETTER OF
UNDERSTANDING PERTAINING TO BILINGUAL
PAY BETWEEN THE INTERNATIONAL
BROTHERHOOD OF ELECTRICAL WORKERS,
LOCAL 47 AND THE CITY OF ANAHEIM
WHEREAS, representatives of the Human Resources Department met and conferred with
officials of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 47 regarding bilingual
premium pay; and
WHEREAS, as a result thereof, a Letter of Understanding dated August 2, 1994 provides
for increases in bilingual premium pay, from $40.00 per biweekly pay period to $60.00 per pay
period, for employees designated by management to perform bilingual duties; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Anaheim does find that it is in the best
interests of the City of Anaheim to approve said Letter of Understanding;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Anaheim
that the Letter of Understanding pertaining to bilingual pay dated August 2, 1994, between the
International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 47 and the City of Anaheim, a copy of
which is attached hereto and incorporated by reference herein, is approved.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and adopted by the City Council of the
City of Anaheim this 16 Lh day of August, 1994.

LETTER OF UNDERSTANDING

and the
INTERNATIONAL BROTHERHOOD OF ELECTRICAL
WORKERS, LOCAL 47
BILINGUAL PAY
AFTER meeting and conferring about the premium pay provided to employees required to speak,
read and/or write in Spanish or other languages as well as English as part of the regular duties of
their positions the parties have reached the following AGREEMENT:
1. Employees required to speak, read and/or write in Spanish or other languages as
well as English as part of the regular duties of their positions will be compensated
,~,. atthe rate of sixty dollars ($60.00) per pay period in addition to their regular
pay. This is an increase from the forty dollars ($40.00) per pay period
compensation for bilingual duties provided by Article 43 of the 1992 - 1993
Memorandum of Understanding between the City of Anaheim and the
International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 47.
2, All other provisions of Article 43, BILINGUAL PAY, of the Memorandum of
Understanding between the City of Anaheim and the International Brotherhood of
Electrical Workers, Local 47 are not affected by this agreement.
3. This agreement will be effective at the beginning of the pay period following City
Council approval. This agreement will expire concurrently with any expiration of
the bilingual pay provisions of the Memorandum of Understanding between the
~ City of Anaheim and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local
47. Subsequent agreements to extend the term of the Memorandum of
Understanding between the City of Anaheim and the International Brotherhood of
Electrical Workers, Local 47 will have the effect of concurrent extension of this
agreement.
