A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ANAHEIM AUTHORIZING THE CHIEF OF POLICE
TO ACCEPT A GRANT AWARD, ON BEHALF OF THE
CITY OF ANAHEIM, FROM THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA,
DEPARTMENT OF ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGE CONTROL,
FOR THE GRANT ASSISTANCE TO LAW ENFORCEMENT
( GALE ) PROGRAM
WHEREAS, the City of Anaheim desires to undertake an
education and enforcement project, funded by the State of
California, Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control, hereinafter
referred to as ABC, for the Grant Assistance to Law Enforcement
(GALE) Program; and
WHEREAS, the State of California makes funds available
to prevent the sale of alcoholic beverages to minors and educate
licensees and their employees on ways to work within the
parameters of their ABC licenses; and
WHEREAS, the City of Anaheim wishes to accept the GALE
Grant award for the purpose of funding salary and operating
expenses for one (1) Police ABC Grant Investigator to provide
education, intervention, and prevention programs to ABC licensees
and their employees on the sale of alcoholic beverages to minors;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Anaheim as follows:
1. The Chief of Police of the City of Anaheim is hereby
authorized, on behalf of the City of Anaheim, to accept a grant
award from the State of California, in the amount of $99,710, and
to execute on behalf of the City of Anaheim all required grant
documents, including any extensions and amendments thereof, under
the program and funding terms and conditions of ABC, and that the
cash match will be appropriated as required.
2. The grant funds received hereunder shall be used for
salary and operating expenses for one (1) Police ABC Grant
Investigator to provide education, intervention, and prevention
programs to ABC licensees and their employees, and shall be used
to supplement, and not to supplant, local funding.
3. It is agreed that any liability arising out of the
performance of this Grant Award, including civil court actions
for damages, shall be the responsibility of the grant recipient
and the authorizing agency. The State of California and ABC
disclaim responsibility for any such liability.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and adopted by the
City Council of the City of Anaheim this llth day of 3uly ,
