December- Januan Activity Report: Community Services Board Thursday, February 11, 2010 5:30 p.m. * MINUTES * ACTION TAKEN The Community Services Board meeting was called to order at 5:34 p.m. by Chair Currie. Staff Present Lynn Smith, Human Services Manager Joe Perez, Community Services Supervisor Beth Lapkowski, Senior Secretary Board Member Pambid -Stout led the Board in the Pledge of Allegiance. Nahla Kayali, Executive Director of Access California Sen-ices, and Dustin Manhoff from Community SeniorServ spoke to the Board about their agency's accomplishments for 2009. None. None. None. Board Member Pina made a motion to approve the minutes For the Januan 14, 2010, meeting; Board Member Milliman seconded the motion and it passed with 6 ayes and 2 abstentions. Chair Currie asked for comments; Lynn stated that she would be happy to answer any questions but there were none. 7. UNFINISHED BUSINESS A. Review CDBG Application & Instructions B. FY 2009/10 CDBG Public Sen-ice Funding Process: C 0 E Lvnn noted that both Commissioners Conrev and Henninger had expressed interest in discussing these items and were absent from the meeting; therefore, Chair Currie again tabled the discussion for another month. He noted that the March meeting will be the last opportunity to make any changes to the application and instructions. 1. Agency Liaison Appointments: Lvnn commented that according to the letter that was provided for the Board by Access California Sen-ices, it appeared that they alreadv had their liaison visit by Community Development. She said she would inquire with them about the remaining dates and send the information to the Board. CDAC Meeting April 1, 2010: Lynn noted the meeting will be held April 1, 2010, at Anaheim West Tower, 2nd Floor. Chair Currie asked Lvnn to inquire whether there will be a subcommittee meeting prior to this meeting as he would like to attend if they do. FY 2011/12 Public Sen Funding Process: CSB Meeting & Presentation Schedule Lynn reminded the Board that the letters will go out to agencies in the beginning of April notifi them of applications available. Lvnn stated the schedule was included in the packet again since additional agency presentations have been added. She also noted that in November the regular meeting would fall on Veterans Day so their funding recommendations would need to be finalized at the October 7 meeting or a different meeting date for the November date would need to be scheduled. INFORMATIONAL ITEMS: Board Member Faessel announced the following meetings and events that will take place: • February 13: Muzeo gala will be held. -2- • February 20: Cypress College 35 "' Annual Americana Awards, Dorothea Stephenson is receiving an award for 30 years of volunteerism. • March 14, 11 am: Anaheim Public Libranv Foundation's mysten luncheon at the Disneyland Hotel. • March 17, 6:30 am — 9:30 pm: Fundraiser for Greater Kiwanis of Anaheim at Polly's on Imperial Highway in Yorba Linda • March 20, 6 pm: Boys & Girls Club gala at Grand Hotel. • March 25: Anaheim Community Sen-ices Volunteer Recognition Reception at the Grove. • March 28, 7 pm: Orange County Symphony at Sen-ite High School. • Assistance League's fashion show and silent auction luncheon 10:30 — 2:30 on Saturday, April 10 at Disneyland Hotel. • May 20: Muzeo's 1 Annual Bowl at 300 Bowl at Garden Walk. • May 22: Anaheim Historical Society's tea at the home of Joyce Morris at 2 pm. Board Member Pina announced the following events: • TN,Tol Plaza celebrated Valentine's Day party with 40 seniors attending; Downtown Rotan provided hors d'oeun-es and sandwiches. • Women's Division held their luncheon two weeks ago where they honored outstanding teachers in the Anaheim School District. • Anaheim Beautiful held their luncheon and distributed their Wipe -Out Awards to two school superintendents for their help in organizing clean -ups. • Anaheim Rotan completed a third clean -up at Balsam - Curtis; they have three clean -ups remaining with the final one including a barbeque for the neighborhood. • Anaheim Historical Societe will hold a Valentine's Dance on Februanv 16 at the Ebell Club. Board Member Milliman announced that he will be absent from the meeting next month due to a business trip. 9. ADJOURNMENT At 6:26 p.m. Chair Currie adjourned the meeting to March 11, 2010, at 5:30 p.m.
