2000-171RESOLUTION NO. 2000R 171 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM AUTHORIZING THE CHIEF OF POLICE TO ACCEPT A GPJuNT AWARD, ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM, FROM THE OFFICE OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE PLANNING FOR THE "SCHOOL GANG VIOLENCE SUPPRESSION PLAN" WHEREAS, the City of Anaheim desires to undertake a certain project designated ~School Violence Suppression Plan," to be funded in part from sources made available through the California State Budget Act of 2000 (Chapter 52, Statutes of 2000) administered by the Office of Criminal Justice Planning, hereafter referred to as OCJP; and WHEREAS, the State Budget Act of 2000 made funds available to promote the "School Gang Violence Suppression Plan," and to assist law enforcement agencies with the costs associated with school gang suppression activities; and WHEREAS, the City of Anaheim wishes to accept grant funds for the purpose of funding the salary and benefits for one (1) School Gang Diversion Officer to provide suppression, intervention and prevention of gang activities and protect students and school personnel in the City of Anaheim from gang and youth violence. NOW, THEREPORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Anaheim as follows: 1. The Chief of Police of the City of Anaheim is hereby authorized, on behalf of the City of Anaheim, to accept a grant award for the "School Gang Violence Suppression Plan," in the amount of $150,000, from the Office of Criminal Justice Planning (OCJP), and to execute on behalf of the City of Anaheim all required grant documents, including any extensions and amendments thereof, under the Program and funding terms and conditions of OCJP. 2. The grant funds received hereunder shall be used for the salary and benefits for one (1) School Gang Diversion Officer to provide suppression, intervention and prevention of gang activities and protect students and school personnel in the City of Anaheim from gang and youth violence, and shall be used to supplement, and not to supplant, local funding. 3. It is agreed that any liability arising out of the performance of this Grant Award, including civil court actions for damages, shall be the responsibility of the grant recipient and the authorizing agency.
