95-116 RESOLUTION NO. 95R-116 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM ADOPTING A CITY COUNCIL POLICY REGARDING SPECIAL EVENT FINANCIAL SUPPORT WHEREAS, certain organizations within the City of Anaheim plan, organize and implement community-wide special events of significant community value; and WHEREAS, the City Council is often requested to provide financial assistance for such community-wide events; and WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to establish certain criteria to assist in determining eligibility of such organizations for financial assistance for such events. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM HEREBY DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: 1. That it is the Policy of the City Council to consider requests for financial assistance of up to $5,000 to be taken from the city Council Contingency Fund from organizations which plan, organize and implement community-wide special events. At a minimum, the following conditions must be met in order for organizations to be eligible for consideration of financial assistance: a. A comprehensive budget for the event is submitted by the event planners which illustrates how the City funding will be used along with other revenue sources to support the special event. b. Grant requests must be submitted in writing at least three months in advance of the event. c. Monetary funding sources or in kind donations of goods and/or services are identified in an amount that approximates, to the extent reasonably feasible, the amount requested of the city. d. The proposed event committee is organized for the sole purpose of presenting a community special event. e. The proposed event committee is willing and capable of entering into an agreement with the City to formalize city cosponsoring of the event. f. The proposed event committee consists of a diverse representation of Anaheim-based community organizations and/or businesses. 1 g. The proposed event is multi-faceted in nature and is determined by the City Council to be of significant community-wide value. 2. The appropriation of special event financial assistance will be reviewed annually by the city Council as part of the city's budget process. THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and adopted by the City Council of the City of Anaheim this 27th day of June, 1995.
