96-129 RESOLUTION NO. 96R~ 129 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM APPROVING A LETTER OF UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN THE INTERNATIONAL BROTHERHOOD OF ELECTRICAL WORKERS, LOCAL 47 AND THE CITY OF ANAHEIM. WHEREAS, the Human Resources Director met and conferred with officials and employee representatives of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 47, concerning a Letter of Understanding that recommends alternative plans to the Employee/City Medical Plan as required by Section 63.012 of the Memorandum of Understanding; and WHEREAS, the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 47 is in agreement with the recommendation contained in said Letter of Understanding; and WHEREAS, as a result thereof, the Letter of Understanding dated July 12, 1996 between the parties has been prepared and signed; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Anaheim does find that it is in the best interest of the City of Anaheim to approve said Letter of Understanding. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Anaheim that the Letter of Understanding dated July 12, 1996 between the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 47 and the City of Anaheim, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated by reference herein, is hereby approved. THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and adopted by the City Council of the City of Anaheim this 16th day of July, 1996. CITY CLERK OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM LETTER of UNDERSTANDING between the CITY of ANAHEIM and the INTERNATIONAL BROTHERHOOD of ELECTRICAL WORKERS, Local 47 The City of Anaheim ("CITY") and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 47 ("IBEW") have met and conferred, and have reached the following Agreement: CITY and IBEW agree that the health plans recommended by the Joint Committee on Medical Programs to the City Manager and the City Council on May 23, 1996 are mutually acceptable alternative plans to the Employee/City Medical Plan as required by Section 63.012 of the Memorandum of Understanding between CITY and IBEW. The recommended plan structure will be implemented effective January 1, 1997 for all active and retired employees. 2. CITY and IBEW agree to amend Section 63.02 of the Memorandum of Understanding to read as follows: "63.02 ANAHEIM and Employee contributions 63.020 ANAHEIM shall contribute towards the monthly cost of health coverage to the various medical plans as follows: 63.0201 Approved HMO Plans 100% of the Kaiser monthly rate for any health plan with a monthly rate that equals or exceeds the Kaiser monthly rate or 100% for any health plan with a monthly rate below the Kaiser monthly rate. 63.0202 All other Health Plans 110% of the Kaiser monthly rate when the monthly rate equals or exceeds the Kaiser monthly rate or 100% for any health plan with a monthly rate below the Kaiser monthly rate. 3. The Special Actuarial Valuation required under Section 63.0871 of the Memorandum of Understanding shall be initiated by CITY upon ratification of this Letter of Understanding by IBEW, and any adjustments to employee contributions resulting from the Special Valuation will be implemented effective the first day of the pay period following City Council approval of this Letter of Understanding.
