A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF ANAHEIM ACCEPTING THE
DONATION OF A LAPTOP COMPUTER
SYSTEM FROM THE ANAHEIM POLICE
HONORARY SOCIETY
WHEREAS, the Anaheim Police Honorary Society has
offered to donate funds to the City for the purchase of a laptop
computer system for the use of the Tactical Negotiations Unit of
the Special Tactics Detail of the Police Department; and
WHEREAS, the Special Tactics Detail responds to major
incidents involving hostage barricades, crisis intervention or
barricaded suspects; and
WHEREAS, the addition of the laptop computer system is
a much-needed upgrade to the word processor used during such
major incidents and will allow the negotiations team to perform
background and automated computer checks without leaving the
scene of an incident; and
WHEREAS, the specifications for the laptop computer
system have been submitted to and approved by the Police Honorary
Society; and
WHEREAS, the gift from the Police Honorary Society is
in the sum of $5,000 towards the purchase of the computer system;
and
WHEREAS, it is in the public interest to accept the
donation;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the city Council of
the City of Anaheim as follows:
1. That the gift of $5,000 towards the purchase of a
laptop computer system for the use of the Tactical Negotiations
Unit of the Special Tactics Detail of the Police Department is
hereby accepted, with thanks to the Police Honorary Society.
2. That, upon receipt of the gift, the expenditure
appropriation to the Police Special Operations Program be
increased by $5,000 to account 101-309-2254-9716, and the
appropriation to revenue account 101-309-2254-2029 be increased
by $5,000.
3. That the gift be used for the purchase of a laptop
computer system in conformance with the specifications approved
by the Police Honorary Society.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and adopted by the
City Council of the City of Anaheim this23rdday of January, 1996.
