A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF ANAHEIM APPROVING THE
SUBMITTAL OF A PROPOSAL TO THE
DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND HUMAN
SERVICES FOR FUNDING A GANG
PREVENTION PROGRAM
WHEREAS, Federal funding is available for the
development of youth gang and drug prevention programs through
the Family and Youth Services Bureau (FYSB) of the Administration
on Children, Youth and Families (ACYF) for fiscal years FY 1995-
99; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Health and Human Services
may approve up to $500,000 per year for five years to fund a
youth development grant project for the purpose of implementing
an action plan that concentrates gang and drug prevention
resources on socially and economically isolated neighborhoods;
and
WHEREAS, the City has facilitated such a plan for
preventing youth from involvement in gang activity in four
targeted neighborhoods in Anaheim.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Anaheim as follows:
1. That the submittal of a proposal to the Department of
Health and Human Services for funding a youth gang and drug
prevention program is hereby approved; and
2. That the Community Services Superintendent is hereby
appointed agent of the City of Anaheim to conduct all
negotiations and execute and submit all documents including, but
not limited to, applications, agreements, amendments, payment
requests, etc., which may be necessary for the completion of the
aforementioned project.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and adopted by the
City Council of the City of Anaheim this 18thday of July ,
1995.
