95-033 RESOLUTION NO. 95R- 33
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF ANAHEIM APPROVING THE
FIRST ANNUAL DISNEYLAND MARATHON
AND 5K RUN.
WHEREAS, Disneyland will sponsor a marathon and 5K run
on March 26, 1995; and
WHEREAS, the marathon and 5K run have been promoted
world-wide in an effort to encourage tourism; and
WHEREAS, the events will impact city streets between
the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. on the day of the event; and
WHEREAS, a comprehensive traffic management plan has
been developed to minimize traffic delays for citizens and
visitors to the City; and
WHEREAS, Disneyland has agreed to reimburse the City
for the costs of traffic control assistants, police cadets,
volunteer Police Explorers, reserve officers and regular police
officers overtime work, estimated at a total of $16,000; and
WHEREAS, after due consideration of the facts and
circumstances, the Chief of Police has issued a parade permit for
the events, pursuant to Section 14.24.080 of the Anaheim
Municipal Code; and
WHEREAS, the events will affect certain real property
owned by the State of California and administered by the State
Department of Transportation; and
WHEREAS, the State Department of Transportation has
requested a resolution of the City Council approving the event;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Anaheim that the First Annual Disneyland Marathon and
5K Run are hereby approved.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk shall
provide a certified copy of this resolution to the Chief of
Police for transmittal to the State Department of Transportation.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and adopted by the
City Council of the City of Anaheim this 2Jk~h day of February,
1995.
