A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ANAHEIM AUTHORIZING APPROVAL AND
ACCEPTANCE OF A GRANT FROM THE CALIFORNIA
OFFICE OF TRAFFIC SAFETY FOR A COMPREHENSIVE
TRAFFIC SAFETY PROGRAM AND AUTHORIZING THE
FIRE CHIEF TO TAKE ALL ACTIONS NECESSARY TO
IMPLEMENT THE PROGRAM
WHEREAS, the Traffic Safety Program of 1967 provides
funds to cities and counties for establishing and maintaining
local traffic safety programs that reduce fatalities, injuries
and economic loss resulting from motor vehicle crashes; and
WHEREAS, the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS)
has been delegated the responsibility for the administration of
the Traffic Safety Grants within the state, including setting up
necessary procedures governing applications by cities and
counties for applications for grants; and
WHEREAS, the procedures established by OTS require an
applicant to designate, by resolution, the city officials who are
authorized to execute a traffic safety agreement with the State;
and,
WHEREAS, the City wishes to enter into such an
agreement with the State of California allow implementation of an
emergency response improvement program (Program) for the City of
Anaheim.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Anaheim as follows:
1. Submittal of the grant application by the City to the
California Office of Traffic Safety for 2001/02 Emergency
Response Improvement Grant is hereby authorized and approved.
2. Acceptance by the City of a 2001/02 Emergency Response
Improvement Grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety in
the amount of $214,000 is hereby authorized and approved,
consistent with the terms and conditions set forth in the
attached Standard Application, incorporated herein by this
reference.
3. The Fire Chief is hereby authorized and empowered, on
behalf of the City of Anaheim, to execute any documents and to
take any and all actions necessary for the purpose of obtaining
Traffic Safety Grant funds and which are necessary for the
purpose of implementing the Program.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and adopted by the
City Council of the City of Anaheim this 23rd day of January ,
2001.
