CALL TO ORDER -The agenda having been posted at11:00 a.m. onOctober 2, 2012, the regular meetingof the
Anaheim Public Library Board of Trustees was called to orderbyChairMathisen at6:34p.m.

I.INTRODUCTION OF VISITORS AND COMMUNICATION FROM OTHERS
A.FRIENDS OF THEANAHEIM PUBLICLIBRARY REPORT: Audrey reported that the Friends allocated
over $1,900 for new wallpapertoward the restoration of the entry way of the Woelke-Stoffel House.The
Friends donation as well as the Anaheim Historical Society Donation of $6,000 for the restoration of the
woodwork in the entrance way will be accepted at City Council Meeting on Tuesday, October 10, 2012.
The Friend’s Annual Meeting will be October 22, 2012;Jane Newell will be the presenter.Staff will
present the Friends with tokens of recognition in honor of National Friends of the Library Weekat their
annual meeting.The next book sale willbe Saturday, December 1, 10am-3pm.
B.FRIENDS OF THE CANYON HILLS LIBRARY REPORT: Bruce shared that the author program
featuring Authors Sue Jaffarian and Darrell James sponsored by the Anaheim Public Library Foundation
was held on Saturday, September 15, with approximately 25 in attendance.
C.ANAHEIM PUBLIC LIBRARY FOUNDATION REPORT: The Foundation’s Annual Mystery Author’s
Luncheon will be March 17, 2013. The working theme is “Thrillers & Chillers.”
D.UNSCHEDULEDORAL COMMUNICATION: None.
E.WRITTEN COMMUNICATION FROM OTHERS: None.

PRESENTATION ON TECHNOLOGY TRAINING IDEAS:Thomas Edelblute presented technology
training ideas that were presented at the American Library Association Annual Conference.

C.LIBRARY BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEETING SCHEDULE: The Board amended the proposed schedule
to change the February meeting to the Sunkist Library and the August meeting to the Haskett Library.
MOTION: That the Library Board approve the Anaheim Public Library Board Schedule as
amended. M/S CB/RB 4 Ayes
V.INFORMATION
A.ACTING CITY LIBRARIAN’S REPORT:
The Ponderosa Joint Use Library Grand Opening was a great success. Audrey extended her
appreciation to the Library Board for attending this momentous occasion.
A Part-Time Librarian has been hired for the Ponderosa Joint-Use Library.
The Library has presented ideas to the City of AnaheimVeteran’s Working Group which will provide
services/incentives for Military families and Veterans.
The Friends of the Anaheim Public Library and the Friends of the Canyon Hills Library will be
recognized at the City Council Meeting on Tuesday, October 23,2012for their outstanding
contributions. The City Council will provide the Friends with a Proclamation proclaiming October 21-
27, 2012 as National Friends of the Library Week.

VII.MONTHLY RECOGNITION OF SUPPORT/CERTIFICATE BY BOARD MEMBERS:The Board
recognized Terry Lowe for his unwaveringsupport of the Library.
VIII.BOARD ITEMS
CAROLYN BRYANT –Thanked Linell for her four years of leadership as Library Board Chair. Carolyn
attended and enjoyed the authors program at Canyon Hills Library on September 15, 2012. She also
attended the Ponderosa Grand Opening on October 6, and that has been the highlight of her time on the
Board. She is very happy to have been part of this project coming to fruition.
LINELL MATHISEN, CHAIR –Attended the author program at Canyon Hills Library. Linell is very
greatly touched, as a
proud of her time as Chair.She attended the Ponderosa Grand Opening and was
children's librarian and an elementary school teacher, to have her name on the plaque to
commemorate this special library opening.

LANA BARLOW –Attended the Ponderosa Grand Opening and was very happy to be part of the
ceremony. Lana thanked Linell for her service as Library Board Chair.
DR. ROBERTO BAEZA –Thanked Linell forher service as Library Board Chair. Roberto was also
pleased to be part of the Ponderosa Grand Opening and thanked Carolyn for her behind the scenes work in
helping get the Ponderosa Joint-Use Library open.
IX.MISCELLANEOUS
A.NEXT MEETING: The next meeting will be Monday, December 10, 2012at Founders’ Park.
B.ADJOURNMENT: Chair Mathisenadjourned the meeting at 7:35p.m.
