Golf 2008/12/04GOLF COMMISSION MINUTES December 4, 2008 — 5:00 p.m. Anaheim Hills Golf Course — Clubhouse Board Room COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: CITY STAFF PRESENT: VALLEY CREST PRESENT: CALL TO ORDER Chairman Bud Schultz Vice Chairman Kathy Wright Commissioner John McCulloch Commissioner Patty Gaby Commissioner Skip Keys Michael Lautenbach, Dave Johansen, Bob Johns, and Eleanor Granflor Kevin Neal, Regional Golf Course Superintendent Chairman Bud Schultz called the meeting to order at 5:02 p.m. PUBLIC COMMENTS — None APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES Commissioner McCulloch made a Motion to approve the October 23, 2008 Minutes. The Motion was seconded by Commissioner Gaby. Motion passed. ACTIVITY REPORTS A. Golf Superintendent Michael Lautenbach presented his report and answered questions. Michael Lautenbach stated the restroom renovations at Dad Miller Golf Course were completed on October 10, 2008. Michael stated the breezeway was painted at Dad Miller Golf Course at the end of October. Michael Lautenbach stated new display cases for the Ladies and Men's Clubs will be installed at Dad Miller Golf Course. Michael Lautenbach stated new topographic maps of Anaheim Hills Golf course property were completed. Michael stated Casey O'Callaghan Golf Course Design is now working on initial drafts of both master plans for Anaheim Hills Golf Course. Michael Lautenbach stated they are working with GIS to obtain accurate boundaries of golf course. Michael Lautenbach stated the bunker renovations on the 1st 4 t 5th and 6th hole at Anaheim Hills Golf Course are complete. Michael Lautenbach stated the mirror for the 4th tee box at Anaheim Hills Golf Course was delivered and will be installed shortly. Michael Lautenbach stated the fiber optic switch equipment at Dad Miller Golf Course was delivered and will be installed within the next couple of weeks. Michael Lautenbach stated the replacement filter for the pump station at Anaheim Hills Golf Course was installed. Golf Commission Minutes December 4, 2008 Page Two B. Golf Course Superintendent Dave Johansen presented his report and answered questions. Chairman Schultz questioned why the golf course is over -watered. Dave Johansen stated that golf course is watered after fertilization. C. Director of Golf Chairman Schultz questioned if players under 18 must walk due to slow play concerns. Bob Johns stated they must allow everyone to play and that players under 18 years of age cannot rent a cart. Michael Lautenbach stated this will be looked into. FINANCIAL REPORT Michael Lautenbach stated October was not a good month as revenues decreased. Michael stated economic factors are the main reason for the decrease. OLD BUSINESS A. Golf Course Improvement Update Chairman Schultz questioned the status on fixing EZGO carts. Michael Lautenbach stated EZGO is responsible for repairs and will look into it. Chairman Schultz questioned the batteries of carts. Michael Lautenbach stated EZGO will respond to fix these. NEW BUSINESS A. 2009 Golf Commission Meeting Calendar Commissioner McCulloch made a Motion to approve 2009 Golf Commission Meeting Calendar. The Motion was seconded by Vice Chairman Wright. Motion passed. Commissioner Bud Schultz requested future Golf Commission Meetings to be held at Anaheim Hills Golf Course — Clubhouse Board Room. Request was agreed upon by all Commissioners. B. Dad Miller Golf Course — Food and Beverage Michael Lautenbach stated Tina Stenning has given a six month "Notice to Vacate" as the Food and Beverage Operator position at Dad Miller Golf Course. ADJOURNMENT Commissioner McCulloch made a Motion, seconded by Commissioner Keys, to adjourn the meeting to January 22, 2009 at 5:00 p.m., at the Anaheim Hills Golf Course, Clubhouse Board Room. The Motion passed. There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 5:44 p.m.
