Golf 2009/01/22GOLF COMMISSION MINUTES January 22, 2009 — 5:00 p.m. Anaheim Hills Golf Course — Clubhouse Board Room COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: CITY STAFF PRESENT: VALLEY CREST ABSENT: CALL TO ORDER Chairman Bud Schultz Vice Chairman Kathy Wright Commissioner John McCulloch Commissioner Patty Gaby Commissioner Skip Keys Michael Lautenbach, Dave Johansen, Bob Johns, and Eleanor Granflor Kevin Neal, Regional Golf Course Superintendent Chairman Schultz called the meeting to order at 5:05 p.m. PUBLIC COMMENTS Mr. Lee Sherman and Mr. John Hova introduced themselves and both remained for the balance of the meeting. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES Commissioner Gaby made a Motion to approve the December 4, 2008 Minutes. The Motion was seconded by Commissioner Keys. Motion passed. ACTIVITY REPORTS A. Golf Superintendent Michael Lautenbach presented his report and answered questions. Michael Lautenbach stated the new topographic maps of Anaheim Hills Golf Course are complete. Michael stated Casey O'Callaghan Golf Course Design in now working on initial drafts for both master plans of Anaheim Hills Golf Course. Michael Lautenbach reported bunker renovations on the 2nd 6 t and 9th hole at Anaheim Hills Golf Course are complete. Michael Lautenbach stated the mirror for the 4th tee box at Anaheim Hills Golf Course did not work as planned. Michael stated a new, flat mirror has been ordered and will be installed. Michael Lautenbach reported the fiber optic switch equipment has been installed at Dad Miller Golf Course. Michael stated the City's IT group will be making the switchover to the fiber optic connection next week. Michael Lautenbach stated the new score cards were delivered to Anaheim Hills Golf Course and Dad Miller Golf Course. Michael Lautenbach reported the capacitors in the golf car battery chargers were switched out at Anaheim Hills Golf Course. Michael stated battery chargers at Dad Miller Golf Course will be repaired shortly. Chairman Schultz questioned if EZGO is responsible for repairing the beverage cart at Anaheim Hills Golf Course. Michael Lautenbach stated EZGO is responsible and will look into it. Golf Commission Minutes January 22, 2009 Page Two Michael Lautenbach stated the new Twilight Season Pass Program started at both golf courses. Michael stated the program will be for six months. Michael Lautenbach stated the lighting control user guide has been received for Anaheim Hills Clubhouse. B. Golf Course Superintendent Dave Johansen presented his report and answered questions. C. Director of Golf Bob Johns presented his report and answered questions. Bob Johns stated half of the mats at Anaheim Hills Golf Course were replaced and the balance will be replaced by June. Chairman Schultz questioned if items not carried in golf shop can be ordered. Bob Johns stated that items can be ordered. FINANCIAL REPORT Michael Lautenbach stated November and December numbers reflect the downfall in the economy as well as the weather conditions. OLD BUSINESS A. Golf Course Improvement Update Chairman Schultz questioned if bunkers in the back nine at Anaheim Hills Golf Course will be renovated as the 9th hole is in need of renovation the most. Michael Lautenbach stated it would depend on the cost. Renovation of the front nine bunkers received many positive comments. Chairman Schultz requested that green fees do not increase significantly this year. NEW BUSINESS A. Golf Commission Packets Golf Commission has agreed to receive Golf Commission packets by email. ADJOURNMENT Commissioner McCulloch made a Motion, seconded by Commissioner Gaby, to adjourn the meeting to February 26, 2009 at 5:00 p.m., at the Anaheim Hills Golf Course, Clubhouse Board Room. The Motion passed. There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 5:49 p.m.
