Golf 2011/05/26GOLF COMMISSION MINUTES May 26, 2011 — 5:00 p.m. Dad Miller Golf Course — Clubhouse Banquet Room COMMISSIONERS PRESENT COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: CITY STAFF PRESENT: VALLEY CREST PRESENT: CALL TO ORDER Chairman Don Heinbuch Commissioner Patty Gaby Commissioner Bud Schultz Commissioner Skip Keys Michael Lautenbach, Dave Johansen, Bob Johns, and Eleanor Granflor Kevin Neal, Regional Golf Course Superintendent Chairman Heinbuch called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. PUBLIC COMMENTS - None to report. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES Commissioner Schultz made a Motion to accept the Golf Commission Meeting Minutes of April 28, 2011. Motion was seconded by Commissioner Gaby. Motion passed. ACTIVITY REPORTS A. Golf Superintendent Michael Lautenbach presented his report. Michael Lautenbach stated Valley Crest Golf Course Superintendent, Todd Shank, continues to work on improving the condition of the greens at Anaheim Hills Golf Course through verticutting. Commissioner Schultz questioned the cost of the JD Power and Associates survey. Michael Lautenbach stated the survey cost will be split between the Convention Center and Golf Division. Michael stated the survey was completed the end of March and reports will available by early July. Commissioner Schultz questioned the marketing of City golf courses at the local hotels. Michael Lautenbach stated the Neil McKay, Lead Golf Marshal, is currently working with concierges at local hotels to promote both golf courses. Michael Lautenbach stated the Orange County Jr. Championship Tournament will be held in August at Anaheim Hills, San Juan Hills, Coyote Hills, Monarch Beach and Tustin Ranch golf courses. Commissioner Schultz questioned if the GPS contract had expired. Michael Lautenbach stated there is a time & material maintenance agreement in place for the maintenance of the GPS system. Commissioner Schultz questioned who is responsible for the advertising on the system. Michael Lautenbach stated Golf staff is responsible for loading the advertising on the GPS system. FINANCIAL REPORT Michael Lautenbach stated in addition to the continuing downhill economy, the weather has severely impacted both golf courses. OLD BUSINESS A. Dad Miller Golf Course 50 -year Anniversary Michael Lautenbach stated staff is still working on plans for the Dad Miller Golf Course 50 -year anniversary. NEW BUSINESS — None to report. ADJOURNMENT Commissioner Schultz made a Motion, seconded by Commissioner Gaby, to adjourn the meeting to June 23, 2011 at 5:00 p.m., at Anaheim Hills Golf Course, Clubhouse Board Room. The Motion passed. There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 5:34 p.m.
