Broadway 5:00 p.m. Anaheim, CA 92805 CALL TO ORDER — The agenda having been posted on July 5, 2018, the regular meeting of the Anaheim Public Library Board of Trustees was called to order by Chair Laviguer at 5:01 p.m. PRESENT: Rose Chen, David Laviguer, Claudia Perez -Figueroa ABSENT: John Leos, Stan Oftelie STAFF: Larry Pasco, Community Services Director, Thomas Edelblute, Senior Library Services Manager, Jennifer Foxx, PT Management Assistant, Chloe Van Stralendorff, Communications Specialist II, Anli Chen, PT Management Assistant GUESTS: Kris Lasher, Friends of the Canyon Hills Library I. INTRODUCTION OF VISITORS AND COMMUNICATION FROM OTHERS: A. FRIENDS OF THE ANAHEIM PUBLIC LIBRARY REPORT: No report. B. FRIENDS OF THE CANYON HILLS LIBRARY: They are grateful to the City of Anaheim for restriping the Canyon Hills Library parking lot. Last month, a community meeting was held to gather input for a planned walking and riding trail adjacent to the Library. Upon completion, this trail will increase community access to walk to the Library. Canyon Hills Library will celebrate its 37th birthday on Saturday, July 14th at the annual Teddy Bears' Picnic. Participants bring their favorite stuffed animal to enjoy a day filled with stories, crafts, games, and fun activities. FOCAL will meet Thursday, July 19 at 9:30 a.m. in the Canyon Hills Library Multipurpose Room. C. ANAHEIM PUBLIC LIBRARY FOUNDATION REPORT: No report. D. UNSCHEDULED ORAL COMMUNICATION: Larry Pasco, Community Services Director introduced himself to the Board. E. WRITTEN COMMUNICATION FROM OTHERS: None. II. APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF THE JUNE 11, 2018: The minutes were approved as presented. III. UNFINISHED BUSINESS: A. LIBRARY RULES OF CONDUCT: The City Attorney's Office is reviewing the possibility of having the Rules of Conduct made into an Ordinance that will also apply to other Community Services facilities that directly serve the public. B. CHILDREN BEHAVIOR GUIDELINES: Examples from other jurisdictions will be shared at future meeting. C. ANAHEIM PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD REPORT TO CITY COUNCIL ON THE CONDITION OF THE LIBRARIES FOR FISCAL YEAR 2017/18 PER ARTICLE IX. APPOINTIVE BOARDS AND COMMMSIONS, SECTION 908: The Board reviewed the first draft of the letter. Approval of the letter will be on the August agenda. BRANDING: Chloe Van Stralendorff and Anli Chen presented the Branding of the Library concept to the Library Board. V. INFORMATION A. CITY LIBRARIAN'S REPORT: • Thomas shared that the Canyon Hills Library parking lot has been restriped. B. BUDGET: None. C. LEGISLATIVE UPDATE: Thomas shared programs that the State approved in the budget for Libraries. The programs are for Libraries in more rural areas and are services Anaheim already provides. VI. MONTHLY RECOGNITION OF SUPPORT/CERTIFICATE BY BOARD MEMBERS: Recognized Fleet Services for their work on the Bookmobile. VIII. BOARD ITEMS MEMBER ROSE CHEN: Asked about the process to apply for a Library Card online. MEMBER CLAUDIA PEREZ-FIGUEROA: None. CHAIR DAVID LAVIGUER: None. IX. MISCELLANEOUS A. NEXT MEETING: The next meeting will be August 13, 2018 at the East Anaheim Library. B. ADJOURNMENT: Chair Laviguer adjourned the meeting at 5:45 p.m.
