RESOLUTION NO. 64R- 691
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ANAHEIM APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION
OF AN AGREEMENT TO BE MADE AND ENTERED INTO BY
AND BETWEEN THE CITY OF ANAHEIM AND THE STATE OF
CALIFORNIA, DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS~ DIVISION
OF HIGHWAYS, DESIGNATED AS AGREEMENT NO. 1654,
PROVIDING FOR THE LANDSCAPING OF EMBANKMENT SLOPES
OF THE RIVERSIDE FREEWAY-PLACENTIA AVENUE CROSSING;
AND RESCINDING RESOLUTION NO. 64R-475.
WHEREAS, the State of California, through its Depart-
ment of Public Works, Division of Highways, in conjunction with
the construction of the Riverside Freeway, has provided additional
right of way for Placentia Avenue and has reconstructed it on em-
bankment as it approaches the freeway overcrossing; and
~vi4EREAS, the State of California, Department of Public
Works, Division of' Highways, now proposes to relinquish to the
City of Anaheim in. conformance with the Freeway Agreement the
reconstructed portions of Placentia Avenue; and
WHEREAS, the City of Anaheim has requested that the
embankment slopes in the northwest and southwest quadrants of
the Riverside Freeway-Placentia Avenue crossing be landscaped
prior to relinquishment; and
WHEREAS, the State of California has submitted to the
City of Anaheim an agreement to be made and entered into by and
between the City and the State wherein the State agrees to
provide at its expense landscaping equivalent to that existing
on adjacent sections of the Riverside Freeway and the City of
Anaheim agrees to maintain at its expense said landscaping upon
completion and acceptance of the landscape contract; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that it would be for
the benefit and best interest of the City to enter into said
agreement with the State of California;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Anaheim that Agreement No. 1654 submitted to the
City of Anaheim by the State of California, Department of Public
Works, Division of Highways, to be made and entered into by and
between the City of Anaheim and the State of California, Depart-
ment of Public Works, Division of Highways, providing for the
landscaping of the embankment slopes in the northwest and south-
west quadrants of the Riverside Freeway-Placentia Avenue crossing
by the State prior to relinquishment, and for the maintenance
thereof by the City, be and the same is hereby approved.
BE IT FI~RTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Clerk
be and they are hereby authorized and directed to sign said agree-
ment for and on behalf of the City of Anaheim.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Resolution No. 64R-475 is
hereby rescinded.
