Mr~ Robert W. Joyce addressed the Council and advised that he had petitioned the Council to deny this variagce. Dr. McCarthy presente~ a petition signed by 11 persons favoring the grant- ing o{ the var{ante. Me a~dre~sed the Council regarding the question of use and stated that it was very unlikel!y for anyone to build a home for raising a family at this location when other places were so very much more desirable. He then presented plans and elevations of the proposed building. There being no further discussion on the matter, the ~ayor declared the hearing closed with action to ~e taken at a later date. Jaynes, 1929 Eas~ Santa Ana Street, a resident directly across from the location where the proposed Service Station is to he built, addressed the Council and referred to a petition sbhmitted to the City Planning Commission containing 124 names in opposition to this variance. Mr. Arthur McCarthy addressed ~he Council, calling attention to a precedent being established by the allowance of this variance. Mr. David White, 1923 East SanKa Ana Street also voiced his objection to the variance. ~ Mr. Baxter, representing Mr. S~einhrink, addressed the Council, calling attention to the proposed shopping center that will he established to the north and advising that this use would develop the property productively. Mr. Cramer of the Shell Oil COmpany addressed the Council and explained the type of station that will he construPted at this location. The City Engineer advised the ~ouncil that Placentia Avenue would ultimately he a hundred-foot right-of-way street and that necessary improvements and dedication hy Mr. Steinbrink would he desired. There being no further discussion on the matter, the Mayor declared the hearing closed. USE OF J.O.S. BY WASTE WATER D$SPOSAL COMPANY: Discussion was held with reference to granting Fullerton permission to allow the Waste Water Disposal Company the use of the J.O.S. A letter from the attorney of the Waste Water Disposal Company to Mr. Turner, City Attorney, was sub~ttted and read. Mr. Turner advised the Council that if an agreement has been made ~etween the Waste Water Disposal Company and the City of Fullerton that it has not b%en approved by the 3oint Outfall Sewer. No action on this master will be taken by the City Council until the money owed the City of Anaheim is received. GARBAGE CONTRACT~ WARREN 3AYCO~: Communication from Mr. Jaycox regarding the renewal of the Garbage Contract for th~-City of Anaheim was submitted, read, and discussion held. In spite of the larg~ number of garbage disposals placed in new homes, the load capacity has nearly d~ubled; and the fact that he has to cook all garbage and has had to close his ranch in Buena Park and move to Corona, necessitating a longer hall, Mr. Jaycox reques_~ed the new contract be increased to $1,500.00 per month. He further requested t~at the new contract be written along the lines of contracts which he has obtained from the Cities of Fullerton and La Habra. REQUEST ~ROM SALVATION ARMY: Communication was submitted and read, notifying the City Council that the Salvation Army is planning to conduct their annual "Salvage Week"' campaign in the City of Anaheim during the week of May 21=26, and requesting permission to place placards on the light standards in the business district. The request to place placards on light standards was denied by the City Council, on motion by Councilman Fry, seconded by Councilman Wisser. MOTION CARRIED.
