Broadway 4:00 p.m. Anaheim, CA 92804 CALL TO ORDER – The agenda having been posted on July 7, 2022, the regular meeting of the Anaheim Public Library Board of Trustees was called to order by Chair Laviguer at 4:04 p.m. PRESENT:Rose Chen, Shelby Hogan, David Laviguer, Linda Newby ABSENT:Michelle Dang GUEST:Robert Hernandez STAFF:Thomas Edelblute – Senior Library Services Manager, Joe Purtell – Supervising Librarian, Nissa Perez-Montoya – Principal Librarian, Jennifer Foxx – PT Management Assistant | I.INTRODUCTION OF VISITORS AND COMMUNICATION FROM OTHERS: A.ADMINISTER OATH OF AFFIRMATION OF ALLEGIANCE FOR PUBLIC OFFICERS AND EMPLOYEES TO ROSE CHEN AND LINDA NEWBY: The Oath of Affirmation of Allegiance for Public Office and Employees was administered to Rose Chen and Linda Newby. B.FRIENDS OF THE ANAHEIM PUBLIC LIBRARY REPORT: No report. C.FRIENDS OF THE CANYON HILLS LIBRARY: The Friends of Canyon Hills presented five scholarships to high school graduates. Siraj Bajwa, Sidney Muntean, and Katie Phan have given outstanding service to the Canyon Hills Library during their years as high school students. Megan and Lauren Nishitani generously served in the Canyon High School Library during their four years of high school. D.ANAHEIM PUBLIC LIBRARY FOUNDATION REPORT: The Foundation approved $58,500 for the Library’s wish list to fund several programs. The Foundation also received a $500 grant from Council Member Gloria Ma’ae. E.COMMUNICATION FROM OTHERS: Thank you cards to the staff of the Mobile Library from students at the Centralia Mobile Library stop were shared. II.APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF THE JUNE 13, 2022 MEETING: The minutes were approved as presented. III.UNFINISHED BUSINESS: None. ITEM # 01 Anaheim Public Library Board Meeting July 11, 2022 Page 2 IV.NEW BUSINESS: A.CENTRAL LIBRARY GREEN SPACE: Nissa Perez-Montoya shared photos of the ongoing construction of the Central Library Green Space. B.SUMMER READING PROGRAM: Nissa Perez-Montoya presented on this year’s Summer Reading Program - “Read Off the Beaten Path.” C. LIBRARY RULES OF CONDUCT: Joe Purtell shared the Library Rules of Conduct and how they are used as the standard in order to keep the libraries a safe and welcoming place for patrons and staff. D.LIBRARY BOARD MEETING SCHEDULE: Postponed to the August 8, 2022 Library Board Meeting. E.ANAHEIM PUBLIC LIBRARY REPORT TO CITY COUNCIL ON THE CONDITION OF THE LIBRARIES FOR FISCAL YEAR 2022/23 PER ARTICLE IX. APPOINTIVE BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS, SECTION 908: A draft letter will be presented to the Board at the August 8, 2022 Library Board Meeting. V.INFORMATION A.CITY LIBRARIAN’S REPORT: Euclid, Sunkist, and East Anaheim Libraries began offering five days of service the week of July 4th. Saturday service will begin at Central, Haskett, and Ponderosa Joint-Use Libraries once the necessary staff are hired and trained. The construction of the Euclid Library outdoor programming space has made a lot of progress. Haskett Library will be receiving new LED lighting. B.BUDGET: City Council approved additional funding to restore five days of service for Euclid, Sunkist, and East Anaheim Libraries and Saturday hours at Central, Haskett, and Ponderosa Joint-Use Libraries.
