CALL TO ORDER – The agenda having been posted on August 4, 2022, the regular meeting of the
Anaheim Public Library Board of Trustees was called to order by Chair Laviguer at 4:03 p.m.
PRESENT:Rose Chen, Michelle Dang, David Laviguer, Linda Newby
ABSENT:Shelby Hogan
STAFF:Audrey Lujan – City Librarian, Thomas Edelblute – Senior Library Services Manager,
Tasneem Watts - Principal Librarian, Jennifer Foxx – PT Management Assistant
I.INTRODUCTION OF VISITORS AND COMMUNICATION FROM OTHERS:
A.FRIENDS OF THE ANAHEIM PUBLIC LIBRARY REPORT: The Friends of the Anaheim
Public Library will be celebrate 58 years of incorporation in October 2022. They have been
working hard on stocking the book nook and their monthly sales.
B.FRIENDS OF THE CANYON HILLS LIBRARY: The Friends of Canyon Hills are having a
Flash Summer Book Sale and a special accessory sale that will include hats, purses, scarves, etc.
on August 25th and 26th at the Canyon Hills Library.
C.ANAHEIM PUBLIC LIBRARY FOUNDATION REPORT: The Foundation’s 2023 Mystery
Author’s Luncheon is scheduled for April 30, 2023. The price will be $75 per person or $700 for
a table of 10.
D.COMMUNICATION FROM OTHERS: None.
II.APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF THE JULY 11, 2022 MEETING: The minutes were approved as
presented.
III.UNFINISHED BUSINESS:
A.LIBRARY BOARD MEETING SCHEDULE: The Board discussed options for changing the
time of the Library Board meetings. MOTION: That the Board approve changing the start
of the Library Board Meetings from 4:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. beginning October 2022. M/S
LN/RC 4 ayes.
B.ANAHEIM PUBLIC LIBRARY REPORT TO CITY COUNCIL ON THE CONDITION OF
THE LIBRARIES FOR FISCAL YEAR 2021/22 PER ARTICLE IX. APPOINTIVE BOARDS
AND COMMISSIONS, SECTION 908: A draft letter was presented to the Board to review and
a revised letter will be presented at the September 12, 2022 Library Board Meeting.

IV.NEW BUSINESS:
A.EUCLID PROGRAMMING SPACE: Tasneem Watts shared photos of the ongoing construction
of the Euclid Programming Space.
V.INFORMATION
A.CITY LIBRARIAN’S REPORT:
OC Zine Fest will be held in September.
Hispanic Heritage Month programming is being planned at each Library location.
Audrey shared the timeline and the request for judges for the Anaheim Public Library,
Altrusa of Anaheim, and the Anaheim Elementary School District Creative Writing Project.
B.BUDGET: Audrey shared how Developer Fees were established, how they are collected, and
expended. A budget overview will be presented to the Library Board in October to explain the
City’s budget process.

C.MONTHLY RECOGNITION OF SUPPORT/CERTIFICATE BY BOARD MEMBERS: The
Board recognized Varsity Burger for their continued support of the Anaheim Public Library
Summer Reading Program.
VII.BOARD ITEMS
MEMBER MICHELLE DANG: Suggested that when advertising cultural programming links should
be provided referencing additional programming for different cultures. Michelle requested to have
the Library assist in advertising the Youth Leadership Expo.

A.NEXT MEETING: The next meeting will be September 12, 2022, at the Central Library.
