66-047 RESOLUTION NO. 66R- 47 - A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCn. OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM DECLARING ITS INTENT TO CHARGE CANDIMTES FOR THE COST OF PRINTING AND HANDLING CANDIDATES STATEMENTS OF QUALIFICA- TIONS AND ESTABLISmNG A DEPOSIT IN CONNECTION THEREWITH. WHEREAS, Section 10012.5 of the Elections Code provides that candidates for elective office in a city may prepare a statement of qualifications to be filed when nominating papers are filed; and WHEREAS, said section further provides that the City Clerk shall send to each voter, together with a sample ballot, a voter's pamphlet which contains a written statement of each candidate's qualifications prepared pursuant to said section; and WHEREAS, said section provides that the local agency may bill each candidate availing himself of this service a sum not greater than the actual prorated cost of printing and handling incurred by the agency as a result of providing said service. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCn. of the City of Anaheim that the cost incurred by the City in printing and handling the Candidates Statement of Qualifications shall be charged on a pro rata basis to the candidates availing themselves of this service and the City Clerk is instructed to bill the candidates accordingly when said amounts are determined. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council finds and determines that the sum of $500.00 per candidate is a fair estimate of the cost which will be incurred by the City for each candidate availing himself of the service provided by Section 10012.5 of the Elections Code and the City Clerk is directed to require the deposit of said amount of $100.00 from each candidate who files a statement of qualifications for prtnting and distribution to" the voters as a prerequisite to the filing of such statement, and further directs the City Clerk to refuse to accept the filing of any such statement unless said deposit of ~SOO.OO accompanies the filing of such statement.
