69R-024RESOLUTION NO. 69R- 24 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM REQUESTING THAT THE CALIFORNIA HIGHWAY COMMISSION ESTABLISH DOUGLAS STREET AS A PERMANENT CROSSING OF THE ROUTE 57 ORANGE FREEWAY. WHEREAS, heretofore, on the 15th day of December, 1967, the California Highway Commission did by resolution establish Douglas Street in the City of Anaheim as a temporary crossing of the Route 57 Orange Freeway as an entrance to Anaheim Stadium; and WHEREAS, the City of Anaheim, for the reasons set forth in this resolution, desires to perpetuate the Douglas Street entrance to Anaheim Stadium by construction of a separation under the proposed Route 57 Orange Freeway; and WHEREAS, said Douglas Street entrance is the most desirable of the acceptable alternate routes considered in that entry and exit to and from the Stadium via Douglas Street would neither interfere with State College Boulevard traffic, or traffic at the Katelia Avenue off and on ramp movements at the intersection with the Route 57 Orange Freeway; that said Douglas Street entrance is more economical by more than $100,000.00 under the next most reasonable approach to the stadium of the three routes acceptable to the City of Anaheim; and WHEREAS, the City of Anaheim will bear the cost of the required separation structure plus any necessary Douglas Street realignment, including acquisition of right of way and engineering costs; and WHEREAS, the proposed location of the separation structure for the permanent roadway would be in the approximate location of the existing temporary roadway previously approved by the California Highway Commission with the variance between the existing temporary roadway and the precise alignment of the permanent roadway being minimal; and WHEREAS, the City Council desires approval of the Douglas Street entrance by the California Highway Commission as a permanent grade separation structure under the Orange Freeway. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Anaheim that it request and it does hereby request that the California Highway Commission establish Douglas Street in the City of Anaheim as a permanent public street crossing of the Route 57 Orange Freeway in the vicinity of the Anaheim Stadium. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Anaheim assume and it does hereby assume the obligation to bear the cost of the separation structure, any necessary Douglas Street roadway relocation, any right of way acquisition outside of freeway right of way, and any engineering costs. AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk be and she is hereby directed to forward a certified copy of this resolution to the California Division of Highways, and with a request that the necessary cooperative agreement be prepared.
