A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ANAHEI APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING
THE EXECUTION OF A SUBSURFACE OIL AND GAS
LEASE WITH OCCIDENTAL PETROLEUM CORPORATION.
WHEREAS, Occidental Petroleum Corporation is desirous
of obtaining an oil and gas lease of the subsurface below 500
feet of the land which the City owns near the intersection of
Acacia Street and Romneya Drive (being the Edison Park site),
more particularly described as follows:
All that portion of the land in the City of
Anaheim, County of Orange, State of California,
lying below 500 feet from the surface of Lot 21,
EXCEPT the north 150 feet thereof, of the Golden
State No. 2 Tract, as per map thereof recorded
in Book 4, Page 68 of Miscellaneous Maps, Records
of Orange County, California, including any
interest of the City in waterways, ditches,
sloughs, canals, dikes, levees, roads, streets,
alleys and railroad rights -of -way or easements
upon or adjoining the above described land.
for the purpose of exploring, mining, drilling and operating
said land for oil, gas and other hydrocarbon substances, with
no right to enter upon or use the surface of said land lying
above said depth of 500 feet; and
WHEREAS, said Occidental Petroleum Corporation has
tendered to the City a Subsurface Oil and Gas Lease, dated
June 14, 1966, to be made and entered into between the City of
Anaheim, as Lessor, and Occidental Petroleum Corporation, as
Lessee, providing for the leasing of said land above described
to said Petroleum Corporation for a term not to exceed 35 years,
upon the terms and conditions therein set forth; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that it would be to
the advantage and in the best interests of the City to lease
said land lying below a depth of 500 feet of the surface of the
land above described to said Petroleum Corporation for the
period and upon the terms and conditions set forth in said
lease, and that the same should be approved.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Anaheim that the Subsurface Oil and Gas Lease, dated
June 14, 1966, tendered to the City of Anaheim by Occidental
Petroleum Corporation to be made and entered into by and between
the parties, providing for the leasing of the land owned by the
City, lying below 500 feet from the surface of the land above
described, with no right of surface entry, to said Petroleum
Corporation, for a period of not to exceed 35 years, upon the
terms and conditions set forth in said lease, be, and the same
is hereby approved.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Clerk
be, and they are hereby authorized to execute said Subsurface
Oil and Gas Lease for and on behalf of the City of Anaheim.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and signed by
me this 9th day of August 19 66
