dear colleagues,
as a long-time Orange County resident, for 22 years, and a professor at UC Irvine specializing in the
history of Israel, I strongly urge the Council to vote to support a ceasefire at its meeting today. nothing
can be more urgent than stopping the onslaught against the people of Gaza as soon as possible as well
as leading directly to negotiations for a permanent ceasefire and a return of all hostages on both sides.
having worked in Israel for three decades, I can assure you that your vote and your voice matter and a city
like Anaheim that represents so much of the world voting to support a ceasefire would send the
strongest possible message to all those who want to continue the violence on all sides that the world is
United against it.
