66-764ATTEST: RESOLUTION NO. 66R -764 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM CHANGING THE NAME OF A PORTION OF THE ORIGINAL ALIGNMENT OF LA PALMA AVENUE, WITHIN THE CITY OF ANAHEIM, TO WHITESTAR AVENUE. WHEREAS, the City Planning Commission did, on November 21, 1966, adopt Resolution No. PC66 -159 finding and recommending that to avoid confusion in having two streets with the same name in the same general vicinity, a street name change is necessary for the cul -de -sac portion of the original alignment of La Palma Avenue at the westerly terminus adjacent to the Riverside Freeway; that the original alignment is a logical extension of Whitestar Avenue, which lies southeasterly of the new alignment of La Palma Avenue, and that it should, therefore, be renamed "Whitestar Avenue and WHEREAS, after careful consideration of the matter, the City Council does fiftd that in accordance with the findings and recommendations of the City Planning Commission, and in order to avoid confusion, public convenience and necessity require that the name of the cul -de -sac portion of the original alignment of La Palma Avenue at the westerly terminus adjacent to the Riverside Freeway; that is, the 350 -foot portion of the original alignment of La Palma Avenue within the jurisdiction of the City, should be changed to Whitestar Avenue. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Anaheim that the name of the 350 -foot portion of the original alignment of La Palma Avenue at the westerly terminus adjacent to the Riverside Freeway, within the jurisdiction of the City of Anaheim, be, and the same is hereby changed to Whitestar Avenue. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Orange County Planning Commission be urged to change the name of that portion of the old alignment of La Palma Avenue within its jurisdiction to Whitestar Ave. THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and signed by me this 13th day of December, 1966.
