A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ANAHEIM URGING THAT THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
OF THE COUNTY OF ORANGE INITIATE AND ESTABLISH
A CITIZENS' COMMITTEE TO FORMULATE PLANS FOR A
COUNTY -WIDE DIAMOND JUBILEE CELEBRATION IN COM-
MEMORATION OF THE SEVENTY -FIFTH ANNIVERSARY OF
THE FORMATION OF THE COUNTY OF ORANGE.
WHEREAS, on the llth day of March, 1889, the County of
Orange was formed from areas theretofore within the County of
Los Angeles; and
WHEREAS, between this
versary of the formation of the
Orange will attain a population
WHEREAS, at such time the County of Orange will be one
of a very few counties in the United. States to have exceeded a
population of one million; and
WHEREAS, when the County of Orange acquires metropolitan
status it will rank among the largest metropolitan areas in the
United States; and
WHEREAS, the County of Orange is world renowned as an
area of outstanding recreation attractions; and
WHEREAS, the appointment by your Honorable Board of a
Citizens' Committee to plan for the commemoration of the seventy
fifth anniversary of the formation of the County of Orange would
inure to the benefit of the residents and cities of Orange County;
and
WHEREAS, the City of Anaheim, as the largest city in the
County of Orange, is willing and desirous of taking the lead in
urging the Board of Supervisors to establish such a Citizens'
Committee.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Anaheim that it urge, and it does hereby urge, the
Board of Supervisors of the County of Orange to take the county-
wide initiative to establish a Citizens' Committee to formulate
plans for a Diamond Jubilee celebration to commemorate the
seventy -fifth anniversary of the County of Orange.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and signed by me
