1960-5855WHEREAS, the City of Anaheim is contemplating the
possible installation of a municipally operated bus system; and
WHEREAS, Wm. F. Farell is the manager of a bus system
in another city and is experienced in the operation and manage-
ment of bus transportation systems; and
WHEREAS, the City of Anaheim desires to have a survey
and an analysis made of the City with regard to the feasibility
of establishing a municipal bus system;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Anaheim that Wm. F. Farell, Transportation Superin-
tendent, 1726 Fourth Street, Santa Monica, California, be, and
he is hereby employed for the purpose of conducting a survey of
the City of Anaheim for the possible installation of a municipally
operated bus system, upon the following terms and conditions:
1. Wm. F. Farell agrees to conduct a survey of the
City of Anaheim for the feasibility of establishing a municipally
operated bus system and to make a written report of the results
of such survey, including suggested routes, suggested schedules
of operation, recommendation of types of equipment to be used,
suggested maintenance and office procedures, and other details
in connection with the operation of a municipally operated bus
system in the City of Anaheim, together with his recommendations
as to the feasibility of such system and his opinion as to the
operational efficiency of such system.
2. If the City should decide to install a municipally
operated bus system after consideration of the survey and recom-
mendations of Wm. F. Farell, Mr. Farell will make recommendations
after installation of the system in order to assist in solving
any operational problems which develop in the first few months
of operation.
3. The City of Anaheim shall pay to Wm. F. Farell the
sum of One Thousand Two Hundred Fifty Dollars ($1,250.00) upon
submission of the written report, and in addition to said sum,
shall pay to Mr. Farell all expenses incurred by him in conduct-
ing the survey and the follow -up recommendations. Such expenses
shall be paid to Mr. Farell upon submission of an itemized state-
ment of expenses.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and signed by me
this 1st day of March, 1960.
