1960-5958WHEREAS, Charles A. Pearson has served the City of
Anaheim faithfully and with honor and distinction for thirty
three years, and
WHEREAS, during his tenure in office Anaheim has
grown from a city of approximately 9,000 population to one of
more than 100,000 population, and
WHEREAS, in addition to serving the City as the first
Secretary of the City Planning Commission, as City Councilman
for twenty -five years, and as Mayor for nineteen years, he has
served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Metropolitan
Water District, Executive Director of the American Municipal
Association representing the Pacific Coast membership, President
of the League of California Cities, and as a member of the
Governor's State Highway Committee, a member of the State
Resources Committee of the League of California Cities,
Director of the Orange County Water District and Joint Outfall
Sewer Committee, and as President of the Associated Chambers
of Commerce, and
WHEREAS, we, the other members of the City Council
find that the people and residents of the City of Anaheim are
deeply indebted to him for the invaluable services that he has
rendered to the City during the past thirty -three years.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Anaheim that we do hereby express to Charles A.
Pearson our deep personal appreciation and gratitude and the
appreciation and gratitude of the citizens and residents of the
City of Anaheim for the distinguished services he has rendered
to the City and its citizens and residents in the many positions
he has held during his tenure of office and particularly as
Mayor and as a member of the City Council, and for his wise
counsel and leadership, good judgment and sound .management
and planning during his long tenure of office.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution
be spread upon the minutes of the City Council and the City
Clerk be, and she is hereby authorized and directed to prepare
an appropriate copy of this Resolution and deliver it to
Charles A. Pearson.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and signed by
