1962-0001A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ANAHEIM ENDORSING THE RECOMMENDATION THAT
THE ORANGE COUNTY SUPERVISORS ACT ON THE
RE., ENDATION OF THE REGIONAL PARK STUDY
GROUP CONCERNING THE FEASIBILITY OF A
REGIONAL PARK IN THE WESTERN PART OF ORANGE
COUNTY.
RESOLUTION NO. 62R
WHEREAS, a regional park study group has been formed
from representatives of six governmental agencies; and

WHEREAS, increased population has created an additional
demand for a regional park in the western and northwestern portion
of the, County; and
WHEREAS, there is presently an extreme shortage of
regional parks to meet the present and- future pa`rkHand recreation
demands of the expanding population in Such western and northwestern
portion of the County; and
WHEREAS, the dim`nishing availability of open land space
and increasing land costs point up the need for immediate action
in regard to this problem; and
WHEREAS, such regional park study group has investigated
and determined the need for such a regional park in western or
northwestern Orange County; and
WHEREAS, numerous reports concerning the advisability of
purchasing park sites have been forwarded to the County Board of
Supervisors by various governmental agencies and civic associations;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Anaheim that it does hereby resolve, determine and order
as follows:
1. That the recommendation of the regional park study
group is hereby endorsed and it is hereby requested that the County
Board of Supervisors take action with regard to the recommendation
of the regional park study group concerning the establishment of
a large regional park in the western or northwestern portion of
Orange County.
2. That the City Clerk is hereby directed to send copies
of this resolution to the Board of Supervisors of the County of
Orange, the City Councils of Buena Park, Cypress, Garden Grove,
Stanton, and Westminster, and to the governing body of the Cypress
Park Recreation and Parkway District.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and signed by me
this 2nd day of January, 1962.
