A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ANAHEIM APPROPRIATING CERTAIN FUNDS FOR
PROMOTION AND ADVERTISING WORK FOR THE CITY
OF ANAHEIM; AUTHORIZING A CONTRACT WITH THE
ANAHEIM AREA VISITOR AND CONVENTION BUREAU
FOR THE DOING OF SAID WORK; AND PROVIDING
FOR COMPENSATION TO ANAHEIM AREA VISITOR AND
CONVENTION BUREAU FOR SERVICES TO BE RENDERED
TO THE CITY OF ANAHEIM.
WHEREAS, Anaheim Area Visitor and Convention Bureau,
located within the City of Anaheim, has special knowledge,
experience and facilities for promotion and advertising work;
and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that it would be
for the best interest and welfare of the City of Anaheim and
the citizens thereof to appropriate funds for the promotion
and advertising of the City to encourage conventions and
visitors to the City and to increase the trade and commerce
of the City; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that a great deal of
work is required to be done in the development and expansion
of Visitors and Convention Bureau activities and that the
Anaheim Area Visitor and Convention Bureau is peculiarly
fitted and equipped to perform such work and render such
services, and that it would be to the advantage and best
interest of the City of Anaheim to employ said Bureau to
render said services and to advertise the resources of the
City;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Anaheim that the sum of $5,000 to aid in the promo-
tion and advertising work for the City of Anaheim be appro-
priated and set aside for the following purposes, to be ex-
pended during the period commencing January 1, 1962 and ending
June 30, 1962:
Develop and expand Visitors and Convention
Bureau activities, solicit conventions, service
conventions, perform special services for visitors,
and produce advertising to develop and encourage
conventions and visitors to the City and to
increase the trade and commerce of the City.
Advertise the resources of the City in news-
papers, magazines and other periodicals, through
posters highway billboards and other advertising
media, and to distribute brochures, folders and
other types of pamphlet advertising.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the ANAHEIM AREA VISITOR
AND CONVENTION BUREAU be, and it is hereby, employed for the
following purposes and to render the following services:
Develop and expand Visitors and Convention Bureau
activities, solicit conventions, service conven-
tions, perform special services for visitors, and
produce advertising to develop and encourage con-
ventions and visitors to the City and to increase
the trade and commerce of the City.
Advertise the resources of the City in newspapers,
magazines and other periodicals, through posters
highway billboards and other advertising media,
and to distribute brochures, folders and other
types of pamphlet advertising.
All services to be rendered shall be at the
direction of the City and all advertising copy
shall be submitted to and approved by the City
Manager of the City before printing or distribution.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the funds hereinabove
appropriated and set aside shall be paid out as follows: All
items to be paid by the City shall be submitted as itemized
specific demands and shall be audited and allowed by the City.
Any expenses in addition to the amount set forth above shall
be paid by said Anaheim Area Visitor and Convention Bureau.
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor and City
Clerk be and they are hereby authorized and directed to enter
into a written agreement with the Anaheim Area Visitor and
Convention Bureau for the term January 1, 1962 to June 30,
1962, embodying the terms and conditions hereinabove set
forth.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and signed by
me this 6th day of March, 1962.
