A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ANAHEIM INITIATING IMMEDIATE STUDY TOWARD THE
ADOPTION OF A GENERAL ZONING PLAN FOR THE CITY
OF ANAHEIM AND REQUESTING THAT IMMEDIATE HEAR-
INGS BE HELD THEREON BEFORE THE CITY PLANNING
COMMISSION AND THE CITY COUNCIL TO THE END THAT
A GENERAL PLAN IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE STATE LAW
BE ADOPTED BY THE CITY OF ANAHEIM.
WHEREAS, in equity and justice every property owner
within the city limits of the City of Anaheim should have
immediately available both accurate and adequate information
on the manner in which he may use his property; and
WHEREAS, a series of precise plans for the land use
zoning of property covering all property within the corporate
limits of Anaheim is the most complete and effective method of
informing each interested owner; and
WHEREAS, under State law precise zoning plans are
ineffective for any land use purpose other than a guide until
the municipal corporation has adopted a General Plan; and
WHEREAS, the marked map presently mounted on the
west wall of the City Council Chamber represents an approach
to a General Plan for the City of Anaheim which can be brought
up to date by the planning staff of the City of Anaheim; and
WHEREAS, the ultimate adoption of a General Plan
after appropriate public hearings thereon are held in accordance
with law is the first and most important step toward the develop-
ment of sound and equitable land use planning in the City of
Anaheim.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council
of the City of Anaheim that the planning staff of the City of
Anaheim be and it is hereby directed to use the map to which
reference has been made as the basis for correction and bringing
up to date to the end that it may be offered as the basis for a
General Plan for the City of Anaheim.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Planning Commission
be and it is hereby directed to set the earliest possible date
for public hearings upon such General Plan and that it hold
such public hearings in accordance with law and as a result
thereof present its recommendations thereon to the City Council.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that upon such recommendations
the City Council hold such additional public hearings thereon as
required by law and that at the conclusion thereof it adopt a
General Plan for land use for the City of Anaheim.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and signed by me
this 6th day of March, 1962.
