A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ANAHEIM AUTHORIZING AN AMENDMENT
TO THE CONTRACT PURSUANT TO THE PARTICI-
PATION OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM IN THE STATE
EMPLOYEES' RETIREMENT SYSTEM MAKING ITS
EMPLOYEES MEMBERS OF SAID SYSTEM.

WHEREAS, the Board of Administration of the State
Employees' Retirement System and the City Council of the City
of Anaheim entered into a contract on July 25, 1950, effective
September 1, 1950, and as amended, effective July 1, 1956,
September 1, 1956 and July 1, 1959, providing for the partici-
pation of the City of Anaheim in the State Employees' Retire-
ment System; and
WHEREAS, on the 5th day of December, 1961, the City
Council of the City of Anaheim did authorize an amendment to
the contract between the Board of Administration of the State
Employees' Retirement System and the City of Anaheim by the
adoption of the 1957-59 Survivor Benefit program thereby
making available to City employees, if they so elected to ac-
cept, such benefits; and
WHEREAS, on February 6th, 1962, the City Council of
the City of Anaheim adopted Resolution No. 62R -105 authorizing
the employment of Coates, Herfurth and England, Consulting
Actuaries, to perform for the City of Anaheim the investigation
and evaluation services as required by Chapter 4, Article 1
of the State Employees' Retirement Law; and
WHEREAS, on May 9th, 1962, the City was advised that
said Actuaries had completed their computation of the City's
contribution rate if the City's contract becomes subject to the
provisions of the 1957 Survivor Program and that the rates as
so fixed by said Actuaries are satisfactory to the City Council
and should be approved; and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City of Anaheim to
take advantage of the Survivor Benefits authorized and provided
for by the 1957 Amendment to the State Employees' Retirement
Law, Section 21365.5 and which are not included in the present
contract.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council
of the City of Anaheim that the rates fixed by the Consulting
Actuaries pursuant to the contract made and entered into with
them on February 6, 1962, determining the City's contribution
for the Survivor Benefits provided by Section 21365.5 of the
State Employees' Retirement System be, and the same are hereby,
approved and accepted.
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that an amendment to the
existing contract of the City of Anaheim with the State Em-
ployees' Retirement System be, and the same is hereby, authorized
in the form submitted by the State Employees' Retirement System
providing for the Survivor Benefits authorized by the 1957
Amendment to the State Employees' Retirement Act, Section
21365.5, based upon the rates of contribution as determined
by the actuaries hereinabove referred to and that said contract
be made effective May 1st, 1962.
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor and the
City Clerk be, and they are hereby, authorized, empowered, and
directed to execute said agreement amending the existing agree-
ment between the City of Anaheim and the State Employees'
Retirement System for and on behalf of the City of Anaheim in
the manner and form herein directed.
