This week I w as in Washington standing up for immigrants, small businesses , and veterans on Main Street. I
hosted U.S. Marine Veteran Alejandro Barranc o w ho is pushing for humane immigration reform that keeps
families together. I also stood with my Korean-American neighbors by c alling for peac e on the Korean
Peninsula. And I introduced legislation to help keep small businesses afloat and c elebrated the 102nd birthday
of one of my neighbors on the House floor. It was a busy week bac k in Washington, so I w anted to take a
moment to show you what I’ve been w orking on.
P ROTECTING OUR IMMIGRANT NEIG HB ORS
This week, I w elc omed my c onstituent, Alejandro Barranc o, to Washington. Alejandro is a U.S. Veteran w ho
is still w illing to lay dow n his life for this c ountry. And yet, last month, Alejandro’s father, Narc iso Barranc o,
w as brutally assaulted and detained by ICE. Alejandro came to Washington to s how law makers how the
Administration's immigration polic ies are ripping innoc ent families apart. They make movies about the
Barranco family. I won’t stop fighting to give parents of our servicemen and w omen a fair shot.

INTRODUCING LEGISLATION TO HELP SMALL B USINESSES
I also introduced the Business Uninterrupted Monetary Program Act of 2025, ( BUMP Act), legislation w hic h
w ould provide needed funding to businesses and nonprofits negatively impacted by major transit and highw ay
projec ts across Orange County. This funding w ould be allowed to c over utilities, insuranc e, rent or mortgage,
payroll, and loss of inc ome for impacted businesses. The BUMP Act w ill ensure that these businesses stay
afloat if a transportation project pops up in their neighborhood, and it w ould make federal tax dollars available
to hard-working small business ow ners on Main Street harmed by this c onstruc tion. Our loc al business
owners are part of the ec onomic fabric of our communities, and they deserve our support if federally funded
projec ts are interrupting their day-to-day operations. Small businesses should not have to bear the c ost of
progress.

I also celebrated the 102nd birthday of my neighbor, Phillip Ramos. Phillip is a World War II Veteran w ho
served in the U.S. Army Corps from 1942-1945. For over 70 years. Phillip has been a valued member of local
nonprofits inc luding the Los Angeles County United Way and on the Cal State Univers ity Los Angeles College
Advisory Board. Phillip exemplifies what the greatest generation is. They fought in World War II, served w ith
honor, and returned home to build this great nation. Happy Birthday Phillip.

P USHING FOR PEACE
I also joined the Korea Peac e Forum to represent Orange County–home to the 2nd larges t Korean Americ an
c ommunity in the United States There are thousands of Korean Americ ans w ho have relatives in North Korea
and they c annot reunite for funerals or any other family events because the United States is still in a state of
w ar w ith North Korea. Korean Americans, many w ho came to the United States as refugees, settled in my
distric t in cities like Fullerton and Anaheim. I’ve heard stories of struggles and heartbreaks that Korean
immigrants endured because of the w ar and the separation of families. This is not just about peac e on the
peninsula, this is about reuniting families.
Congressman Correa spoke at the Korea Peace Forum on the Peace on the Korean Peninsula Act
