A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ANAHEIM REQUESTING THE ORANGE COUNTY BOARD
OF SUPERVISORS TO INCLUDE IN THEIR BUDGET FOR
THE FISCAL YEAR 1953-54 FUNDS FOR FLOOD CON-
TROL WORK AND FACILITIES IN THE CARBON CANYON
AREA.
WHEREAS, a serious flood menace exists in Carbon Canyon
and the Carbon Canyon area of Orange County by reason of the lack
of adequate means and facilities to control flood waters in said
Carbon Canyon; and
WHEREAS, floods in previous years have caused a great
deal of damage in the City of Anaheim and surrounding area; and
WHEREAS, due to the rapid growth and expansion of the
areas around the cities of Anaheim and Fullerton, and particularly
the areas in the path of flood waters from Carbon Canyon there is
imminent danger of great damage being done from future floods
from Carbon Canyon; that such floods will cause great and irrepar-
able damage to residential and industrial development in the
areas subject to such floods, and that it is urgently necessary
that engineering studies be made and a flood control program be
instituted to control flood waters from Carbon Canyon to avoid
serious damages to persons and property.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Anaheim that the Board of Supervisors of Orange
County, California, be, and they are hereby requested to include
in the County Budget for the fiscal year 1953 -54 funds for engineer-
ing studies and the institution of a flood control program, and
the construction of facilities adequate to control flood waters
from Carbon Canyon to prevent damage to persons and property with-
in the areas subject to flood damage from Carbon Canyon.
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk be, and
he is hereby authorized and directed to send to the Board of
Supervisors of the County of Orange, State of California, a
certified copy of this Resolution.
The foregoing Resolution is signed and approved by
me this 7 day of 1953.
