Kassel served this city as a member of the City Council, and as MaYOZ of this city, for more than four years, during which time he gave his beet efforts to progressive city government; as mayor he was always kind, gentles and sincere; he understood human nature, and sympathized with men, as a business man his practi was one of service; he recognized his civics obli— gations as a private citizen, and stood among the leaders of civic progress; and in the passing of Mayor Koesel, this city has lost a truly progressive official, and an ideal citizen, NOW, THE: FORE, FEE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM that the City of Anaheim extends to the beloved wife of Fred Koesel its condolence in this her hour of bereavement. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be placed upon the minutes of this meeting, and a certified copy thereof be mailed to Mrs. Fred Koesel. M. on the above date pursuant to Call. Due notice was served upon each member of the Council a m required by law. And there were present at said meeting: Councilmen Sheridan, Mann, Martenet Jr. and Cook City Attorney Holden was present. Mayor,protem Sheridan stated the purpose of the meeting was to adopt an emergency resolution. Councilman Mann presnted the following resolution and moved tha it be passed and adopted: RESOLUT WHEREAS, by the untimely and tragic death of the Honorable Fred Koesel, Mayor of the City of Anaheim, a gloom has been cas over the entire community, and, WHEREAS, his loyal and unselfish service, both in his public and private affairs, to the citizens of Anaheim merits the utmost respect, all of which should find expression in some definite and satisfactory manner, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM that all business enterprises in the City of Anaheim be and they are hereby requested to close between the hours of two and three on i!onday afternoon, December 5,1932, the time fixed for the fundral of our honored ; layor. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that due publication be given to this resolution, to the end that full opportunity be given to all to join in this deserving tribute. The motion to pass and adopt said Resolution was seconded by Councilman Martenet Jr. and upon roll call passed and adopted by the following vote: AYES, Councilmen Sheridan, Mann, Martenet Jr. and Cook. NOES, None ABSENT AND NOT VOTING, None. The Mayor,pro -tem declared the foregoing resolution duly adopted. There being no further business the meeting adjourned. Approved: Signed:
