Dear City Council Members and All: I am writing to formally notify the City of Anaheim of an ongoing and serious public safety issue involving aggressive coyotes in the Anaheim Hills area. Over the past several months, residents in our neighborhood have experienced multiple alarming incidents involving coyotes exhibiting unusually bold and aggressive behavior toward both pets and people. These incidents include: • A coyote attack that resulted in the death of a neighbor's cat. • A coyote stalking and approaching an adult resident while she was seated on her front porch making a phone call. • A coyote attack in my backyard that resulted in the death of my dog. • Repeated instances of coyotes approaching residents without displaying the normal fear of humans expected of wild animals. • Traffic-related incidents involving coyotes that create a roadway hazard and risk to motorists. These events demonstrate a pattern of behavior suggesting that the coyotes in this area have become habituated to human presence and pose an increasing risk to public safety. The situation is especially concerning given the number of children who regularly play and walk throughout the neighborhood. The purpose of this letter is to place the City on formal notice that various residents have significant concerns and disdain regarding the presence and behavior of these animals. We respectfully request that the City promptly investigate these incidents, and immediately take action pursuant to the coyote management plan, which includes the utilization of lethal force if necessary. We further request a written response outlining the City's assessment of the situation, the agencies responsible for addressing aggressive wildlife encounters, and any planned actions intended to protect residents, pets, and visitors. Given the documented attacks and repeated encounters, we believe immediate attention is warranted before additional injuries or fatalities occur. 1 Thank you for your prompt consideration of this serious public safety matter. My neighbors and I urgently await your response on this matter, Sincerely, Isadora Roma. -- Isadora Roma Senior Litigation Paralegal Phone: (424) 243-3496 Email: misadoraroma@gmail.com 2
