Dear Civic Leader I am reaching out as a long-time Anaheim resident and local animal rescue volunteer to discuss an urgent issue: our city's community cat overpopulation and the needless suffering of thousands of kittens that result from it. The current situation is unsustainable. Local rescues are completely overwhelmed, shelters resort to euthanizing innocent lives due to overcrowding, and residents are left to deal with the heartbreak of stray kittens dying in their neighborhoods everyday. To fix this, we need to shift our focus from reactive rescue to proactive prevention. I want to advocate for the implementation of an aggressive Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) program in Anaheim. TNR is widely recognized as the most effective and cost-efficient method to stabilize and eventually reduce community cat populations. I am fully prepared to volunteer countless hours, recruit a network of dedicated residents, and lead local fundraising efforts to support this initiative. We have the community will and the manpower, but we need our civic leaders to provide the structural support and policy framework to make it viable. What steps do we need to take to work with the city on establishing an official TNR campaign? I would deeply appreciate the chance to discuss potential solutions and community partnerships with you or a member of your staff. Thank you for your time and your service to Anaheim and I look forward to your response. Mimi Yattaw 1
