To the City of Anaheim, My name is Elena Anglin-Davis, and I’ve lived in Anaheim Hills for many years. I’m writing to oppose the new high-density housing project being considered in our community. I’ve had to evacuate during wildfires here before. Sitting in gridlocked traffic with flames moving fast behind us is something you never forget. It’s terrifying, and it showed me firsthand how limited our evacuation routes really are. That’s why I’m honestly appalled that this project is moving forward without fully addressing those risks. According to CAL FIRE’s updated Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zone maps, parts of this development fall in or near areas with documented wildfire danger. We already know from past fires — including Canyon 2 — that evacuation routes become overwhelmed quickly. Adding hundreds of units and potentially thousands more cars will make it even harder for residents to get out safely during an emergency. I’m asking the City to pause this project until an independent, transparent wildfire-evacuation study shows that adding more density won’t put people at risk. Those of us who have lived through evacuations aren’t being dramatic — we’re being responsible. Our safety should come first. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
