Dear Neighbor,
This week, I took time to reflect on the issues that affect our communities here in Orange County and
across the nation. From rogue ICE operations in our streets to the mental health crisis plaguing our
nation, this was a week to work on the issues that affect us and continue to find solutions to address
them as your voice in Washington. As I continue to bring your stories to the halls of Congress, I
wanted to take a moment to show you what I’ve been working on.
A CONVERSATION ON ICE IN OUR COMMUNITIES

Reps. Correa & Kamlager-Dove discuss ICE impacts in CA
I joined Congresswoman Sydney Kamlager-Dove to discuss the ways that ICE raids have impacted
our communities across Southern California. Since last January, our communities in Orange County
and California have been rattled by rogue ICE operations. The President doesn’t realize that the law-
abiding, tax-paying individuals that he’s been targeting are the same individuals that strengthen our
great state. Their contributions are what make us the fourth-largest economy in the world. I’m proud
to be leading the effort in demanding accountability, transparency, and justice for our communities —
it’s what we deserve. ¡La Lucha Sigue!
DEMANDING TRANSPARENCY ON THE AUSTIN ICE SHOOTING
2
Rep. Correa joins colleagues in demanding answers on the Austin ICE shooting
This week, I joined my colleagues in the House Homeland Security Committee to demand
transparency and accountability on the shooting of Wilber Rafael Garces Perez. In Austin, an ICE
agent shot Mr. Garces Perez, forcing him to sit for hours in ICE custody with a bullet still lodged
near his spine. As the Ranking Member of the Border Security and Enforcement Subcommittee, I
sent a letter to Secretary Markwayne Mullin to demand proper medical care for Mr. Garces Perez,
release all video of the shooting, and EVERY record tied to this investigation. Enough is enough.
There must be a full and transparent investigation into what happened here. We deserve answers
and we deserve them now!
RECOGNIZING SUICIDE PREVENTION MONTH
3
Recognizing National Suicide Prevention Month 2026
Every year, we recognize National Suicide Prevention Month as a time to raise awareness and inspire
meaningful action around one of the most dire mental health crises of our time. This September, we
remember those who have lost and stand with those still struggling. National Suicide Prevention
Month serves as a reminder to continue to invest in mental health care services and expand access
to mental health resources for those in need. If you or someone you know needs help, please reach
out to the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline. No neighbor deserves to feel alone. Por favor, cuídense
todos.
SUPPORTING OUR CHILDREN’S EMOTIONAL WELLNESS
4
Reps. Correa & Kim co-lead a resolution supporting our children’s emotional well-being
We have a moral obligation to ensure that all of America’s children are granted the happy, fulfilling
lives that they deserve. That’s why I joined Congresswoman Young Kim to introduce a bipartisan
resolution recognizing September as National Children’s Emotional Wellness Month. Since the
COVID-19 pandemic, we’ve seen an alarming increase in suicide rates and mental health
challenges for youth all across our nation. We have to acknowledge the fact that America’s next
generation is facing an emotional wellness crisis. This resolution is a monumental step forward in
advancing awareness on this issue, and sheds some much-needed light on the emotional well-
being of all of America’s children.

Dear Neighbor,
On October 2nd, I will be holding the third session of my Older Adult Congressional Collaborative to
talk about how YOU can stay safe from online scammers and thieves.
Scammers steal an estimated $28 billion from older Americans every year. Helping our neighbors
stay informed and vigilant of these predatory tactics is of utmost importance.
I’ll be joined by a team of experts from the FBI Financial Crimes Unit, the Anaheim Police Department,
Anaheim Public Utilities, and the Senior Protection Program, and the Council on Aging Southern
California's Financial Abuse Specialist Team (FAST) to provide all the resources necessary to keep
you informed, alert, and smart if you ever find yourself facing a scammer.
If you’re interested in joining our special guests and I for this informative discussion, please RSVP by
emailing Janet.Brown2@mail.house.gov or by calling my office at (714) 559-6190.
I hope to see you there!
