Anaheim Boulevard Anaheim, CA 92805 Dear Mayor Aitken: I am wri?ng because I have reached a point where I genuinely do not know where else to turn. My home on Via De Rosa was supposed to be my family’s place of peace—a home where we could raise our children, enjoy the beau?ful trees and views, and eventually spend our re?rement years. I purchased this home based on that se?ng. It was nestled among the trees, and the home was designed with large windows and sliders because the natural surroundings were such an important part of the property. Today, that peace has been severely disrupted. Immediately behind my home is an Anaheim water pumping sta?on, along with a generator located extremely close to my property. The pumping sta?on has been updated, and the noise from the equipment has become so disrup?ve that we have difficulty sleeping in our own bedroom. The generator creates addi?onal noise and fumes that enter our home. When there have been problems with the generator, the vibra?on has been severe enough that our house has actually shaken. This is not simply an inconvenience. This is my home. I should not have to close my windows, avoid enjoying my property, tolerate fumes and excessive noise, or worry about equipment opera?ng only a very short distance from my home. What makes this even more difficult is that I have not ignored the problem or simply complained without trying to find solu?ons. I have repeatedly contacted the appropriate people, communicated with my HOA and other involved par?es, a?ended mee?ngs, sent le?ers, and sought legal assistance. I have spent considerable ?me and money trying to understand who has responsibility for these issues and how they can be corrected. Yet I am s?ll living with the consequences. 1 There are also con?nuing problems involving our private street, including deteriora?ng pavement, water leaks, damaged areas, and maintenance concerns. I have watched other areas receive a?en?on and improvements while the concerns affec?ng Via De Rosa con?nue. I am not asking for special treatment. I am asking for the same level of considera?on and accountability that any Anaheim homeowner should be able to expect. Mayor Aitken, I am asking you to please look beyond this being treated as another individual complaint that can simply be referred from one department to another. I need someone to take ownership of ge?ng the appropriate City representa?ves together and actually reviewing the situa?on. I am asking for: 1. A mee?ng with you or a member of your staff to discuss these concerns personally. 2. A thorough review of the pumping sta?on and generator, including their proximity to my home, their opera?on, noise, vibra?on, and emissions. 3. An explana?on of what work has been performed or authorized at the facility and when. 4. Iden?fica?on of the City department or official responsible for addressing these concerns and a clear path toward resolu?on. 5. A review of the con?nuing infrastructure and maintenance problems affec?ng Via De Rosa. I am not asking you to reach a conclusion without hearing the facts. I am asking you to help me finally get the facts reviewed by the people who have the authority to do something about them. I have spent years trying to protect the home and quality of life that my family worked hard to have. It is heartbreaking to feel that the peaceful home I purchased for my family has gradually become a place where noise, fumes, vibra?on, construc?on, and ongoing neighborhood problems interfere with our ability to simply enjoy our own property. I should not have to spend the rest of my life figh?ng just to have peace in my own home. I respec?ully ask that your office contact me and arrange a mee?ng. I am prepared to provide photographs, correspondence, documenta?on, and a ?meline of what has occurred. I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to sit down with someone who is willing to listen to the en?re story and help determine what can actually be done. Mayor Aitken, I am asking for your help because I believe that someone in a posi?on of leadership can bring the appropriate people to the table and ensure that this ma?er receives the serious review it deserves. Thank you for taking the ?me to read my le?er. I sincerely hope you will consider mee?ng with me. Respec?ully, Gloria Savin 1045 Via De Rosa Anaheim, CA 92807 Ccsavin@aol.com 714-281-9757 2
