1965-682WHEREAS, the arid regions of the southwestern
United States depend upon the waters of the Colorado River
for survival and sound economic growth; and
WHEREAS over the years and through the courts
the states of California and Arizona have bitterly contested
the rights of the other to the use of said water; and
WHEREAS, an act introduced in Congress in February
of this year, known as the "Lower Colorado River Basin Project
Act," appears to present a logical solution to the problems
involved and to the end of the Colorado River water contro-
versy; and
WHEREAS, the enactment thereof would be in the
best interests of both California and Arizona and would per-
mit the development of the most dynamic region of the country
to proceed to its ultimate potential.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council
of the City of Anaheim that it support, and it does hereby
support, the passage of the act entitled "Lower Colorado
River Basin Project Act."
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a certified copy
of this resolution be forwarded to the Board of Directors
of the Metropolitan Water District, to the attention of
Joseph Jensen, Chairman.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and signed by
