HUD SECTION 8 UPDATE - REPORT, MAY, 1976: Housing Director Rosario Mattessich briefly summarized his report for May, 1976 (copies • furnished each Authority Member), advising that 59% of the families in the Housing Assistance Program which have been certified are in place, as compared to his estimate of 60% given on June 1, 1976 (see minute page 76 -1). He referred to the last page of his report, consisting of a map illustrating the location of families assisted through the Section 8 Rent Subsidy Program. A total of 157 families have been assisted as of the end of May, and it is anticipated that by the end of July, the full 200 family allocation will have been filled, and work can be commenced in preparation for the next Section 8 allocation from HUD. A newly revised statement of occupancy for the waiting list will be submitted in the near future, and Mr. Mattessich noted that new regulations will require some changes, and will allow some additional flexibility in reciprocal moving between cities. The new administrative procedures, policy statement and the new budget for the fiscal year will have to be submitted to HUD. In response to question by Mrs. Kaywood, Mr. Mattessich reported that a few of the units being utilized are single family houses for large families. With reference to her question on June 1, 1976, regarding the setting aside of some units for persons who would be in need of relocation assistance, he stated that his investigation has illustrated that HUD will not approve "set -- asides" specifically for persons displaced; however, these persons can be given priority.
